Sami is the best. I met him when he was with the Dolls. They played at Tower Records in L.A. and had a meet and greet after. He was the only guy that shook my hand and was genuine. I mentioned Hanoi and he lit up. We started talking and security moved me along. Felt like I could've talked to him for an hour. Just bought his album. I'll support this guy in whatever he does.

Same here. Met him when he was in Jetboy at a club in Buffalo. They were opening for Kix. Whole band was a bunch of great guys who really enjoyed talking with fans. Same with the Kix boys.

Sami is a terrific interview. What a memory! He remembered the club in Cleveland where HR played their last show: Peabody’s. I’ve seen what seems like a thousand great shows from up and coming bands at that club before it moved and closed. Played there a ton, too. I also had seen Smack in LA at Club Lingerie back in 1988 before Sami joined. I wish I had seen Jetboy but we were never in the same town at the same time.

Sami is awesome. I knew Todd Crew when I was a young little dude. I was heartbroken by Todd but was happy when Sami joined Jetboy. I was hoping that their first album and second was more raw like they were live. Todd was an inspiration when I played bass and Sami was as well.

I've never seen this guy speak before not counting the time I met him by chance in the crowd of a Stryper show, Jetboy opened that night, but have never actually seen him interviewed anywhere. This is a real treat. I've been listening to Hanoi since I bought "2 Steps..." after seeing their Broken Dreams video on Mtv. Freaked me out to hear him say the band was falling apart after they had just finally got a major record deal and were produced by Bob Ezrin. That's crazy to me.

I have been listening to Hanoi Rocks since the early 90s when I seen thier colored vinyl in the alternative/punk section. I didnt know Sami was so cool/nice and tells interesting stories. Im so happy he kicked his smack habit . Im very happy for him, Michael and Nasty. I wish Andy would grow up and be proper so we can see a real, full reunion. He (Andy) seems like a narcissist of the worst kind

Interesting interview. I always thought of Hanoi Rocks as cheap, sleaze metal. Hearing the first album, first time ever. It kinda has an Aerosmith vibe.

They are the epitome of that sleaze metal sound that is so rich in blues and jazz. Even Hanoi is the most known of those bands, but there were just so many amazing bands from that area of the globe back then and so hard to hear the ones that didn't achieve Hanoi's level, because everything was really word of mouth usually from what you found in the sacred import bin, then shared with a friend, who shared with a friend. That and Headbangers Ball. Imagine if we had the internet, KZbin and social media back then???? YIKES !!!!! I'd of been in heaven. Still to this day I'll look at a picture of a band, then check where they are from. If its Sweden or Finland. I'll smile knowingly. Hanoi has left a wonderful legacy that is still growing and spreading

There's a persistent story out there that the Heroin overdose death of one of Jetboys guitar players is one of the blackest marks on Slash's record. Apparently they were doing smack together, the Jet Boy guy overdosed, and instead of getting him some help Slash just build out and tried to make it look like he was never there. Gun 's management apparently paid a lot of money out to the Jet boy guy's family to prevent a wrongful death suit.

How can you say Poison and Motley Crue were influenced by Hanoi. The look really isn't the same. And the music isn't even close to being the same genre. Hanoi sounds like the Clash meets The Rolling Stones. But as far as actually being influenced by Hanoi's music? Bands like Flash Bastard are the ones who actually SOUND like they are influenced by Hanoi Rocks.....This idea that the L.A scene could name two songs by Hanoi is laughable.
