@meghanmanson I am actually pretty impressed by his linguistic skills, his English is great, he knows a lot of words, he's fluent and also his way of speaking is very thoughtful, his choice of words very accurate. He's thinking during the interviews, he responds carefully. Which is far more convincing than standard black metal 'fuck this' or 'fuck that' or 'hail satan'.

@GoldenRatio2 Watain are number one black metal band ever, and not just due to the fact that a lot of people like their music. They are black metal/satanic individual through and through. I seriously think they won't end their lives in a natural way.

I don´t care if he's drunk or not, high or not, it really doesn't matter at all. What he says, is a just what he thinks and thats what its all about, same as he do in his songs! Hail Watain!

Very good interviewer in my opinion I think in the two parts of this interview I learned a lot more about Watain/Erik, most interview's with him is more "jokey".

He's definetly intoxicated in some way, though he is trying his absolute hardest to answer the questions as intellectually as possible.

Could be, but not necessary... It is possible that he can`t explain what`s in his mind (or express himself fully with words) in a way that others would understand... his mind is full of thoughts and feelings and everything is connected in some way, so he can easily lose a thread (not from his, but from other people`s point of view)... I don`t know, but I am like this most of the time when I try to explain myself to others... or when someone asks me some deeper question. And I never drink or do drugs.

@GoldenRatio2 Name one that revolutionize the genre to such an extent as Watain, both musically and ideologically.

@meghanmanson His English is actually very good. Still, he's obviously very tired and even his hoarse suggests that he's aither ill or immediately after a show.

@meghanmanson I'd say he's more of a "feeler" than "thinker".

@trommnorse: Well, I certainly wouldn't agree that Watain are the ''number one black metal ban ever'' simply because no such thing exists. I don't doubt their commitment or artistic vision for a moment, but in my humble opinion there are more interesting black metal bands who are furthering the genre to a far greater extent than Watain.

check it out ....hes obviously fucked up in some way....who the fuck cares? Watain is the only step forward black metal has taken in a long while. hails \m/ \m/

@trommnorse: I could not agree less with that view. I find DsO to be superior both in terms of overall concept (philosophy/ideology - whatever you want to call it) and execution/translation of their beliefs into musical form. Both bands seek to share a very similar message so to say that Watain are more 'extreme' seems rather ridiculous. Granted, Watain do play live which perhaps adds an extra dimension to their art, but DsO's album recordings say everything that they need to. I respect...

@trommnorse: Cont: ...the fact that the members completely rule out the possibility of live shows as they do not view black metal as a scenic art. Yes, I would highly recommend The Ruins of Beverast. Rain Upon the Impure is my favourite release. It's a masterpiece of the genre - very different to Watain though so it might not be to your taste! Give it time, though. BAN = Blut Aus Nord.

@thothster: Are you implying that Watain are the only band to have contributed towards the evolution of black metal in recent years? If so, you are sadly mistaken.
@trommnorse12 жыл бұрын
@GoldenRatio2 DsO are great but both musically and image-like not half as extreme and convinving as Watain. Watain's gigs and visual artwork all add up to the mighty picture of the coherent whole, while DsO just play music. With lame sound, I'm sorry to add. I'll check Ruins of Beverast, if you recommend them. BAN?

@trommnorse: DsO, BAN and The Ruins of Beverast to name but three.
