Just picked one up 🤣another for my massive plant collection. I’m sure my hubby is thrilled but I couldn’t pass up.

Hi, I am sorry for just a delay, I am having computer issues. I love this plant, it is such a beauty. I would not have been able to pass the plant up either.

I planted mine in the ground and the leaves were so tall that I never got to see the beautiful flowers. I live in zone 9a. It has trees behind it so is in partial sun/partial shade but hotter in the afternoon. Should I put it in a pot?

I have had success with gingers in the ground and in pots. Most gingers will go dormant in fall/winter, so on my special gingers I do keep them in pots. Make sure you label it. Thanks and happy gardening.

When do you cut the flower off? Or do you just let them fall off?
@ConcerningGardens1821Ай бұрын
Hi, the flower will normally fall off by itself. But if you want to neaten the plant, cut it off when the bloom dies. The ginger will go dormant over the winter and will regrow next spring. Happy gardening.

I repotted mine. But she looks sad. Will she come back?

Plants on rhizomes are very hardy. It should come back. You might try a little light epsom salt water, about 1 tablespoon per gallon of water for the stress and keep the plant out of the direct sun. Most Gingers will start going dormant in the fall so it may even be next spring. Just remember which pot has what rhizome in it. 😄 Happy gardening.
