A South Carolina jury found disbarred attorney Richard "Alex" Murdaugh guilty of murder in the 2021 killings of his wife and son.
Murdaugh, 54, was found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
RELATED: Alex Murdaugh trial: Recap of mysterious murder investigation bit.ly/3j2mxyH
Murdaugh's wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, were found fatally shot near dog kennels at the family's home on June 7, 2021. Murdaugh admitted in court that he lied to investigators when he told them he was not at the kennels before finding their bodies.
After the verdict was read, Judge Clifton Newman scheduled Murdaugh's sentencing at 9:30 a.m. Friday and thanked the jurors for their service. The minimum sentence for murder is 30 years in prison. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office is seeking life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Circumstantial evidence is strong evidence! Even DNA is circumstantial evidence too… The evidence was very strong here.
@greenman6141
@greenman6141 Жыл бұрын
@@JustinFromMD Yes, thanks for stating that about evidence. Trial watchers get far too hung up on the word "circumstantial". Virtually all evidence is. Eye witness evidence is considered the most unreliable. So unless someone kills a person on camera (Darrell Brooks) circumstantial is what it is going to be. Fortunately juries have common sense. It is funny reading through comments below a KZbin video of this trial earlier today. Quite a few people were saying "they knew" he'd be acquitted, because the jury wouldn't convict with "only" circumstantial evidence.

I’m soooo glad Maggie and Paul can now rest in peace, I feel relieved to know that Alex will not and can not get away with murder, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, it doesn’t matter how much money you have , your client tell etc. I have been in tuned for weeks, and what have drawn me to watch this case is how BRUTAL Maggie and Paul was gunned down by a father and husband . I had to see it through !!!!! And as I looked on I saw it clear as day that He Alex was GUILTY… Ray Charles could see that and he’s blind!!!! The facts was clear, yes he tried it !!!! Try to manipulate the entire case and yes, that was to be expected because he was past tense!!!!! A prosecutor lawyer…plenty times while watching the case. I said, “ why he just dnt stand up and say “ I’m GUILTY”!!!!! Instead of dragging it out!!!! But he tried it!!! The worst part of watching this case, was when Alex took the stand … oh my goodness. That was the most entertaining, staged act out of the entire case, he never answered the question direct , he was mumbling, rambling etc looking real crazy and fake… no one in this world deserves to die the way Maggie and Paul left this earth…. But thank God for Justice True Justice being seen on today…, Guilty was the ONLY VERDICT!!!! Thank you Jesus Maggie & Paul Rest in Peace you guys will always be remembered 🙏🏽❤️💙

I watched this trial from the beginning, posing myself as a juror. My verdict, had I been in deliberations, would have been guilty on all counts. The timeline was just too close for him not to have been there at the shooting. Although I believe the verdict is justice, my heart aches for all the family. Even for Alex. How did he come to take such a path of destruction? He has wasted and thrown his life away. He threw away his family, friends, and colleagues. And for what? For his son, Buster, I wish I could take his pain away. All I can say is, the who thing is sad. So very, very sad. No joy do I relish in this outcome.
