In other videos I noticed she was able to respond to questions that required her vision, which isn't possible yet with current AI like GPT-3. Can't confirm, but I think they had a human in the loop for the CES demo. But AI as capable of this and more will be available in the next few years. I think a universal basic income is inevitable by 2030, when robots can perform most jobs as well, or better, than a human.

On a basic level I get your point that right now we don't have self-aware AI and it's just lines of code. But it is extremely arrogant to think that consciousness is a feature exclusive to the human race, and downright foolish to expect that we will not see the emergence of certain forms of "consciousness" through digital code. On a metaphysical level, 1 and 0 are no different than the nucleotides that make up your DNA. Given sufficient resources and time, it seems almost inevitable that we will reach a point where our computers and the programs we write are "better" than we are. Already if I type a sentence into my phone, the output it creates is "better" with less typos, etc. and original AI-generated content continues to improve and evolve at a downright shocking pace. I'm guessing you also believe that 'america is the greatest country on earth' based on your comment, but even if you don't- Your hubris is blinding you to the possibilities of the world.

Pretty awesome milestone. Very happy to be in this lifetime where robotics advance to shape the future. It wouldn't be half as exciting being born in a future where everything's already advanced. I can't say "we" [the public] are all a part of this innovation in robotics, but we're definitely a part of it for feedback and data gathering. After all, a great performance needs its audience; moreover, a successful product needs its buyers. The age of robotics and AI is truly astounding, and all I can say is I find gratitude in living to see the door opening. Maybe one day our tax dollars will contribute to this... and also to the reforestation processes around the globe to heal Mother Earth.
