About public participation in law making, I understand the emotive nature of the issue. I would refer MPs to the American Court system where almost all criminal cases must be decided by the Jury with a presiding judge only certifying what the jury passed. The public MUST decide laws and parliaments work is to add a legal flavor to it and pass as decided by the people.
