@paamslvr11 ай бұрын
Hi Mia! I work in luxury in Milan lol and I can assure you that this brand is doing nothing for sustainability, even big brands that preach how sustainable they are, in reality they do nothing or the bare minimum (sometimes it's just greenwashing). Also, if they state that some pieces are produced in italy or others european countries, it's legal to put "made in italy" even if ONLY one phase of the production process was made here. For example, if the whole piece is made in some low-wage labour country and they add some bottons in italy, they can legally put "made in italy" even if it was made unethically. So, some luxury brands really care about the quality of their products and sustainability, but others (such this one) scream "reeed flag" but we have to see also the fabric composition to evaluate better. also love you Mia

Mia, on most higher end pants the pockets aren't actually fake-if they're open on both sides it means the pocket is just sewn shut and there's a tiny thread in the middle to snip. You also see this on blazers, or things with a slit (like the back of a pencil skirt). This is so the items keep their clean lines and don't stretch while being tried on. The inside of clothing matters! My mom was a seamstress and whenever we’d go shopping she’d always look at the inside to see how and how well an article of clothing was put together. It will tell you a lot about comfort and durability of the item. Also, different fabrics require different types of manufacturing.

@alveolate11 ай бұрын
yea it's a question of scale. just one product line being done with sustainability in its planning could save so much carbon output that it could match an entire household's output for years. individual consumers really don't have that level of impact, short of frequent flyers switching to rail or daily truck drivers switching to electric (still needs a green grid). unsustainable companies should be taxed higher or straight up fined if they're ignoring all standards. but the problem is that the US has had an anti-regulatory streak for decades and they probably don't even have industry standards, especially for a wasteful industry like fashion.

honestly, I wonder if that's the thicker, woven fabric at play. thicker fabrics hold their shape a lot better then thinner ones, so less deforming and clinging to miniscule curves (that we all have). For that canvas dress, the original sale price is crazy, but getting it for about $200, is actually a good deal. It looks like it is well constructed out of good material. If you take care of it, it can last your whole life, which is something current culture does not appreciate. Buying a dress for $200 that has the potential for a lifetime of use actually ends up being the better investment, than buying a $20-$40 dress every year.

Also long skirts (I am quite clumsy), they can also get heavy even with a bustle or pannier which I manage to bump into everything with. I've been binge watching some of Mias older videos and have realised something: She can sew She can build She can decorate She can bake She can Crochet ( I think) Mia can do so many things and has so many skills it makes me want to learn loads of skills all in one go. You are definitely my comfort youtuber x

Mia is incredibly talented and inspiring. But hey, why not start one or a few of these new hobbies/talents? You can do it! 😊

The floral dress really looked super good on you, keep it for a wedding or some formal dinner!

Good LORD. The navy blue drop-waist dress actually left me speechless. Firstly, the way the top and skirt were sewn together creates such an unflattering line on the body that I am AMAZED you looked so good in, but also, the super soft thin material on the top with the boxy scratchy skirt just remind me of those dresses that used to be popular in the 80s-90s that were like a drop-waist blouse and skirt in matching fabric, and if you took the blouse off, there was just like a tank-top that the skirt was sewn to to keep it up?? I'd see them in thrift stores a lot as a kid because nobody wanted to buy them, and this dress looks like a less attractive/incomplete version of that. Absolute NONSENSE.

I could not disagree more. I adore that style. It’s Japanese minimalist fashion and they always make it look good. The relaxed fit looks calm and graceful.

She looked like she was wearing a sleeping bag 😩 it’s so ugly

It was awful, wasn't it! She looked like a bag lady or a 60's earth mother. Baggy and loose with the 'waist' practically round her crotch...massive no for me! 😅

Some of the pieces are very nice, however the prices are INSANE! That dress looked so beautiful on your mom! And I loved the first dress and the cashmere sweater was very pretty!

I honestly think everything looked amazing! Especially with your hair you look so sleek and stylish in a very fancy way. Love these looks and I think the dresses actually both worked really well on you.

your mums laugh sounds so similar to how my genuine laugh sounds (like that laugh that is just uncontrollable and releases pressure from a tight chest, that laugh you knew you needed in that moment and got) so every time I hear her laugh it brings me an unmeasurable amount of extra joy because of how similar it is to my genuine high point. idk how to really explain it any further other than her laugh brings me the most joy than anyone else's laugh could and this is the first time i heard someone sound so similar

I'll be honest, I came to this video expecting ugly clothing but I loved the look of almost everything in this video. However, without checking, I know for sure they don't carry my size (plus size) and can't afford the prices but I really enjoyed this video and seeing that Goop actually has some really nice-looking clothing that all looked great on you and your mother.

I love the videos with her in them as her laughter is definitely contagious. 😂 So glad you’ve stayed true to yourself after all of these years! Thanks for all you do Mia & Mama Maples! 🤍 you’ve gained a new fan for sure!

As a former sewer, I wondered if you considered the addition of sizing to certain garments when they're created. Heavy cotton is quite stiff when new, but after laundering becomes soft and supple. I'd like to know the type of fabric used to make these clothes, according to their labels, and also where they were made. 😁 Happy New Year to you, Mama Maples, and all the rest of the family.🥳🎉🎇🥂

I got really curious about the floral dress Mia showed (more for checking the dress pattern than for buying tho), and according to the website it's made with "comfortable Italian stretch-cotton: 97% cotton, 3% elastane" and it needs to be dry clean 🤔

The Rita dress is actually stunning though. And as a seamstress, the inside of a garment does actually matter! Garments that are finished properly can take far more wear and washing than garments that have loose edges and seams. Also there's nothing particularly strange about the canvas dress holding its shape or the shirting-weight trousers "flopping:" that's literally just the way fabric works.

When I think of Goop I always think of the questionable candle scent 😅I thought the "parachute" dress was adorable on you! $525 is painfully not worth it, though D: Happy New Year, everyone!!!

Mia could make that same dress in a couple of hours for a lot less money! The company name is perfect... It all is an overpriced pile of goop.

I would love for you to buy from other luxury brands at comparable price points to see if Goop holds up when compared to other brands within its price bracket rather than having it compared to fast fashion! Because I feel like it'll definitely be a huge upgrade from something like Shein, but I want to know if it holds up when pitted against other luxury brands.
