Or using mixed fabrics, petroleum based fabrics… (BTW if Mia if you’re potentially reading this or anyone who doesn’t to know all the main problems with recycled [petroleum-based] fabrics) They STILL aren’t easily recyclable when turned into clothing compared to a larger item like a plastic bottle etc. as you can’t just take it to your municipal recycling bin They STILL aren’t recyclable if they are darker colours as they can’t be dyed or have the colour stripped (it’s the same with regular plastics) Lastly, they STILL still shed the same amount of microplastic fibres into the water supply when washed Recycled Petroleum Based Products are only to stop NEW resources from used. It is still better than virgin materials and petroleum but, especially ‘wardrobe basics’ should not need to contain petroleum products especially at the higher price points. So, anyone reading this should just know what Recycled Petroleum Products do and what they still fall short on. (BTW Mia if you’re reading this, take note just in case your amazing clothes don’t have those downsides before they’re released ❤️)

@@amara560 You ask the same question over and over again. Neither Mia nor her followers have claimed that they will never ever buy clothes that are not 100% ethical and sustainable, sometimes the budget does not allow it, other times you simply like something and want that item. These videos are a response to the request of the followers, who want to know more about these brands, maybe some will decide not to buy anymore from that brand, others may see the tried-on pieces and decide that it is still worth buying (I have fast-fashion clothes, like H&M, 15 years old and I still wear them, they look flawless if you know how to choose classic cuts, good materials and take care of them, not all these clothes are of bad quality). As she said at the beginning, sustainable means something different for everyone, some are extremely strict and don't buy anything that doesn't meet their 100 rules, others are more flexible, others are just starting to make a change in their life and they want to know more about the things that they should pay attention to when choosing a brand.

Mia! I have been subscribed and watching for years, back in undergrad studying ecology. Just graduated with a masters in sustainability, and I whole heartedly appreciate your content including sustainability/ethics! Specifically, how you explain what you’re seeing on the website/clothes and leave it up to viewers to decide their own opinions. Plus, you’re right about the term “sustainability” as everyone has their own perspective and worldview that impacts what they view as sustainable. I’m glad you told us what each clothing item tag says about the material. And I love the laundry addition. Another reason why synthetic material is bad for the environment is because of micro plastic fibers shed through the laundry, especially if you laundry frequently/with hot water. If you’re interested, you could do a whole video trying out the recommended amount of times you should laundry denim vs a tshirt vs a sweater, etc. Just wanted again to come on here to say how great your videos are, and just watching you try on clothes from brands is enough for me to save my own money/environment by not buying as much 😂❤ truly love you and your content Mia!!!

Random tidbit I learned in my textiles class, Linen is actually a fabric weave and not a fabric material. It's a loose weave that can be made from cotton, silk, flax, ramie and a lot of other materials or blends. Most clothing companies will just put the actual material composition but a lot of higher end brands note the weave as well and write like cotton linen or flax linen etc. Other weaves like that are like twill or crepe, like they can be made from a lot of different materials and sometimes their weaves are only noted in the marketing and not on the tag.
@yumeironeko8 ай бұрын
That's so cool! I've learned something interesting today. 🤓 Looking into it, our word linen derives from the Latin name of a flax plant linum and is also related to other English words including "line" like a straight line (so maybe linen fibers were like early rulers lol). Since linen/flax fibers are stiffer and don't have as much stretch as some other textiles, it makes sense to me that a weave style that's straight up and down in both directions (warp and weft) would come to be labeled after that fiber.

Mia, I have watched your videos for a short amount of time, but you have quickly became one of my favorite influencers. You are so real, genuine, and seem so kind. You promote SO many products, but you are also true to what your opinion is and I think that's SO hard to find now. You are someone that is MADE to be an influencer and deserves all the views, brand trips, sponsorships, etc. I could see us being friends irl just because of how you carry yourself. No video of yours is a skip. Also, THANK YOU for speaking up about the shitty size ranges. I feel like so many influencers that are skinny just don't speak up because it doesn't concern them, but I really respect that you did

Thank you for this amazing review, I love how you investigated the sustainability of this brand, I loved how you mentioned the sizing and I love how you even did a wah test of the clothes. Super, amazing, in-depth review, the effort you put into each review is really commendable!

random tidbit but linen is actually a weave an not a fabric itself. Linen can actually be made of cotton, silk, flax, ramie and other materials. A lot of brands will add the material composition onto the tag but higher end ones will add the term linen so people know the fabric is fragile and be sure to note the care instructions. I learned that in my textiles class ha.

Mia’s fan base is one of the only ones I know where it’s so positive and supportive . You don’t have to worry about people attacking or judging in the comments and I feel like that says a lot about Mia as a creator ❤

I know you might not see this.... but PLEASE make the sweatpants have an adjustable waistband that doesn't press on the stomach. I HATE things pressing on my stomach & that stops me from buying a lot of sweatpants. 🥺

Lately I have had this thought that mass producing clothes in every size is not sustainable at all.. it is important to be inclusive, but at what cost? Only to produce more waste?... would love to see a brand that make clothes to order, so that they only produce what is needed. But then again, the "I didn't like this, so I am returning it" would be a problem too 😅😅 # is living even sustainable?

The washing up is a great addition to these reviews, I hope you keep doing it because often when I see all these beautiful pieces, I have the same thinking as you do, that the wash should be simple, but they would shrink in the dryer. As a plus sized person, thank you for mentioning how elastics should be more prevalent. I hate shopping and I've just defaulted to wearing leggings all the time because I cannot be bothered with trying pants that zip up - because they either never go up all the way (they stop at my thighs), or I can't tie the button or the zipper up. I've also just started to wear loose tunics for shirts. I even always order a size up to make sure that it fits.

oh mia i'd think that after so many years you'd be able to tell a dropshipper from first glance. this is just another store like cider with higher priced and wishy washy politics. of course they arent sustainable
@radbu10758 ай бұрын
It was also giving me generic drop shipping vibes 😬 the weird unpronounceable name usually gives it away
