The craziest thing isn't how he managed to remove the blood/pain when he's pushing an ice pick through his hand, it's that he gambled on the fact that it could fail and fuck up his left hand for the rest of his life. For a magician, your hands are the most valuable things you have.

I've seen how it could possibly work. It's the same as having an earring because it will create some tissue and have a hole. I don't get how he misses every artery and vein etc.
@laughingachilles8 жыл бұрын
It's not even a new trick. There are a number of religious practitioners who did this as 'evidence' that they were devoted to their god(s). These people would insert small needles to begin with and then work their way up. Scar tissue would form and so it became painless. It's the same principle as a piercing. I would love some nutcase to challenge him and say they will stab their hand and he has to do the same place.
@anthlazanas19958 жыл бұрын
he probably had it done by an expert at first many times in order to create a hole (similar to an earring, like you said) and so he only has to carefully navigate the blade through the hole.
@Lightningchase19738 жыл бұрын
Likely - doing this often - he developed a kind of a fistula (making it more easy). But this is not necessary. This kind of piercing is way more difficult, than with a needle blade, but therefore it forms the tiniest hole, which is then widened by stretching. This moves aside nearly all blood vessels, and a few torn tiny capillaries will never bleed, as the pressure seals them.
@thehandleisuseless7 жыл бұрын
if you really want to know the truth, it is quite simple. A thick layer of latex and make-up in the hand. google it. It is quite a simple trick
@laughingachilles7 жыл бұрын
Doc James Burton That is one way and usually the correct answer. There are some magicians who use a very old technique that was associated with certain religious practices. You make a small hole with a needle and over time you shove in larger objects, the scar tissue doesn't have nerves which respond to pain and the scar tissue forms a sort of track for any future objects. I'm not saying that's absolutely what he's doing, only that it used to be done that way.

I've watched him do this same trick multiple times now, and it's always in the exact same spot. He pierced his hand just to do that trick. There's no blood, because he isn't actually puncturing anything, as there's a hole there. That's really the only explanation I can think of. Problem is, he also does this trick, using his right biceps. I've only seen that one once though, but I think it's reasonable to assume that he pierced both spots just for these tricks. That's crazy.

David Blaine's ice pick trick, where he pushes an ice pick through his hand without apparent injury or bleeding, is a famous stunt that relies on a combination of skill, preparation, and misdirection. Here's how it's generally believed to work: Body Training: Blaine has likely undergone significant training and practice to safely insert objects into certain areas of his body. Over time, he may have learned how to insert the ice pick through a part of his hand where it can pass between tendons and muscles without hitting major blood vessels or causing serious damage. Misdirection and Audience Control: Blaine is a master of misdirection. He ensures that the audience is focused on the drama and the effect of the trick rather than on the actual insertion. This allows him to perform the trick without drawing attention to the specifics of how he does it. Precision and Sterility: Blaine has likely practiced this in a way that ensures precision in where the ice pick enters and exits his hand. He also takes safety precautions, such as using sterile equipment, to avoid infections. While the trick appears dangerous, it relies heavily on meticulous planning and physical conditioning. It's not magic in the traditional sense, but rather a feat of endurance and precision.

I wonder if any of this trick applies dry needling. Look it up, physical therapists use this on muscles to release trigger points. It can be done without causing bleeding because the needle is not hollow like those in hospitals to draw blood which tear through tissue. We have done this in class messing around with needles but never through the hand. Lots of nerves through there. There is a video where he is in a book store and he actually pulls out a needle used for dry needling (can tell by the packaging and casing of the needle) and puts it through his hand. A professor put one of the needles all the way down to my hip bone and no blood during removal.

I'm going to ruin the trick for you, so if you don't want to know then stop reading. It's the same principle as an earring in that he spent a lot of time careful piecing his hand and arm with a thick needle and over time scar tissue developed and covers up the hole, so just like putting the stem in your ear, or nose, or where ever, he carefully slides this ice pick through the hole he developed over time. Don't get me wrong, he can still do a lot of damage because there are veins and nerves all around in there if he doesn't go through exactly the same way. You'll note he puts it in the exact same place in every episode because that's where the hole is.

All tissues need to be supplied with blood, and there's a muscle directly in the way of pushing the pick through. Right, pain killers and muscle notation aside, he’s a genius

If only this was the most traumatic thing Alec Baldwin would ever have to endure. He probably looks back on this now and thinks "I'd rather watch David Blaine do this on repeat." 😬😬

He did it in his arm as well in front of Ricky Gervais so there's no "hole in his hand" or anything. I'm betting it's a fat syringe needle and the blood compartment is built in the wooden frame of the "ice pick".

The spot on the hand where he is putting the ice pick through if done very precisely, the ice pick will miss all blood vessels and miss most nerves and muscle tendons. This trick requires exact precision but it is also done by fakors. There are hundreds of locations in the human body that do not have any blood vessels, very few nerves and very few muscle fibers. This knowledge is known by the fakors.

That's a trick ice pick, it retracts back into the handle but I dont know how he gets it to come out the bottom haven't figured that part out yet, if it was real there would be tons of blood illusion.

He should have done the catching bullets with your teeth trick - I feel this may have been more useful for Alec Baldwin to learn

“Better you then me”…. said Alec before he pulled the trigger on Halyna. Yeh that’s right, he pulled the trigger. Guns don’t just “go off”.

You're preaching to the choir dude. It's the idiot cops and courts who refuse to arrest him.

I'm reminded of that Gom Jabbar scene at the beginning of Dune, where the witch lady tests Paul to see whether he's a human with self control or some shit. In the real world, that's just called David Blaine being a dick to people.
