Resellers have ruined my love of watch collecting. Imagine saving up for years just to find out you can't get a watch that you would wear daily unless you've already bought several other models.

I bought a datejust 41 jubilee fluted green dial and absolutely love it I could make an easy 1.5-2k profit but I just couldn’t bare selling it money comes and goes but your first luxury watch is irreplaceable.

I think if you appreciate the crown and the heritage and love watches.. every piece feels like this. I have 6 Rolexes and each one is very special to celebrate life events! And wear it proudly.. can’t even think about selling it! First purchase 2009 and glad the hype is going down…

I got the call for my desired SD43 18 mos. and was quoted 14.2K all inclusive. I called my jeweler to see what I could get if I needed to sell it, and it was hard to get him to even commit to 13k. Nope. I told the AD I’ll grab a gently used one for 10.6 and she laughed. It’s getting closer by the day.

@@OhioVworldWho is selling you a gently used one for 10.6 if a jeweller will pay you 13 for…a similar, gently used one? The jeweller needs to make a profit…so would mark it back up. If he was offering them for 10.6, he’d be buying them at 10 max. No wonder the AD laughed! If your first thought is “How much can I get if I need to sell it?”, then in reality, whilst you may have gathered the cash, you can’t actually afford it.

@ A Jeweler would OFFER 13K on a NIB watch he could LITERALLY pick up with me. That was, now, 19/20 months ago. A lot has changed in the market, and gently used versus NIBb100% is very different.

@@OhioVworld So when you say “If I needed to sell it”, what you actually meant was “I wanted to flip the watch instantly as I have no real interest in owing one, or possibly affording one”?! Nobody plans they suddenly need to sell a watch 10mins after they’ve bought it.

With many full gold pieces being available in the AD window now, it would be good to see a comparison video. E.g. there's lots of pieces around £35k (full gold Submariner, Day-Date, GMT Master II Zombie etc) so would be good to get a comparison of them all as well as the difference in prices that the grey market dealers such as yourselves sell them for. Thanks.

Interesting look from a trader's point of view. Picked up a blue dial OP from an AD recently. For the first time since I have been dealing with him (over ten years) he admitted that trading was tough at the moment. Made me wonder how other brands are selling on the high street.

@@Thevoiceofreason84 Goldsmiths uk ,all I bought previously was a Tudor Root Beer and a solid bracelet for my Tudor North Flag, which was £800😮 lucky enough to get the Tudor Flag in an AD in Tenerife, they had one left in another showroom, new old stock so to speak

I would like to know where these get there prices. I just brought an all yellow gold sky dweller with jubilee at my AD. They got for me within a month. To this day not a single ad on Chro24 or eBay and some google search have I found one under retail. What I don’t understand either is they said that watch was 43,800 British pounds which is $56k USD. Mine was $51k USD at the AD.

It’s funny that the GMT Pepsi in White Gold is virtually impossible to get from an AD but most grey market dealers don’t stock them because they are bad sellers 😂

@@Madeinlondon67 not sure if it's bad sellers, but rather scarcity .... At any given time, the world supply for sale is 2 dozen, maybe 3 dozen.. Contrast that with other GMT's which could have thousands...

@@junito1008yupp, agree. Either wait to get the watch you want at retail or a reasonable game or look for something else. And if you‘re going to buy a precious metal one, just keep that one. It‘s cooler anyway. Becaus every d!ckweed out there is rocking a steel sub, pepsi, batman or daytona anyway

@@Bisley1 I’m blessed enough to have couple of nice watches including a yellow gold sky dweller and I never ever have paid more than retail price for any of them. I cannot digest how ppl are willing to pay more for something with less value. Those Rolex with that rubber strap look nice the first month, after that, that strap looks old and nasty…in the meantime your stainless steel or gold bracelet will last for ever. I’m so secure of myself that I don’t follow trends, i wear what I like and what makes sense financially…that should be the rule of everyone.

@@junito1008Interesting isn’t it, that leather strapped watches have always fared lower in the value retention stakes…naturally because no-one really wants someone else’s sweaty, grimy leather strap with their watch. It’ll be precisely the same with these oyster steel straps. I personally believe these will age badly (both physically and in market opinion) but are being touted as valuable as they’re scarce and attached to expensive watches. Metal bracelets have lasted decades and can still look awesome. Rubber, after a few years, can look dire.

@@_Desma here in the uk they classed it as a ‘boutique’ piece which meant you had to have a massive spend history on their other gaudy watches, not anymore it seems, I’ve been on the list about 2 years, really love it but just can’t justify the spend at the mo especially as you can get the other colours much cheaper on the grey market the blue is dropping as well though the 2023 and 24 models not so much

We rarely see them. Not many people have the audacity to try and sell one to a professional dealer. We check the watches in our workshop.

Omega has Rolex beat in accuracy, why not power reserve? It seems the 10 year-old 8800 & 8900 movements should have a power reserve of at least 75 to 85 hours, no?

Omega and Rolex accuracy is basically the same. Rolex guaranteed range is 4 seconds and Omega is 5 seconds.

I was vaguely interested in a Rolex, but after speaking to a friend of a friend, I wasn't going to waste, my time, dignity, patience or money, building up an AD 'relationship' just to get the actual overpriced item I was more interested in.

Watch out for the Halloween budget from our Labour government that’s is going to squeeze the Rolex buyer pockets ! Let’s face it it is not the uber rich who buy Rolex…..it’s the aspirational hard workers with a bit of dough to flex, no shame in that….but the market will go into free fall very soon.

All prices are going back 2016 prices where the new watch is worth more than pre owned unless it’s collector like a moon watch, Pepsi, or etc… market is not just gonna collapse but go under a depression for the next couple of months!!!
