Love your channel. I have a good relationship with a local AD and my family and friends have bought many Rolexes from her. 3 years ago, I asked her for a Panda Daytona, Peps/Jubilee and a turquoise dial OP 36. My phone has not rung for any of them - LOL. And that's perfectly ok, as I have enough modern Rolexes. I am going vintage from now on. Cheers and Happy New Year!

So say I keep checking in with my AD on getting the Datedjust 41 in blue. I don't hear anything other than "we'll put you on the list" as if my request was the first time they hear it. So lets just say I have to buy some other watches before I am 'deemed worthy' of owning the DJ41 Bliue. Well, what did I end up paying to get to ownership of DJ41 Blue? $1000s more than what the watch would cost me if I could buy it up front. In other words, the 'list price' is way above the listed Rolex price. To sum it up, Rolex list prices are what you would pay on the grey market. Don't waste your time with the AD. Just pay the 'actual' list price at the grey market dealer. Rolex has lost control of the pricing of their product, and it's their own fault.

I went to my AD and brought what I wanted….Explorer 40 and GMT II Sprite, no games or demands to buy anything else. Of course the grey market are going to tell you the ADs are bad.

Not difficult to buy many Rolex models at present. Explorers, Explorer 2, many Datejusts, Air Kings, some OPs, are all available on short wait time. If you want and buy one of these from an AD it's fairly easy to move up the chain. I know. I'm on Rolex 14, all bought at retail. All my picks, no suggested buys.

Paid a visit to my A.D on Friday and the host/assistant said… (and bear in mind I have purchased 4 x Rolex’s from the chain) that a GMT is a 15 year wait and a Sub is 17year wait!!😂😂) and she said it with a straight face, I questioned twice the wait time!! OMG…. IF this is true (which blatantly it’s not) the models I am interested in will be void anyway… she also said to keep in touch…. So let me think, I need to keep in touch 3 to 4 times a year for the next 15 to 17 years… 😂😂😂

@ Tissot, vintage Omega, Citizen (daily beater), my grail is a VC. I like the SD43 Rolex, and I might get a meterorite face GMT one day, but Rolex are fine watches with classic styling that simply ~150% of true value priced. That’s fine, but it doesn’t warrant the attention the brand gets among neophytes in the space.

The Rolex CPO pricing is insane!! I understand there is peace of mind, and the dealer experience that comes with CPO, but come on 😢 I recently acquired my first Rolex, and it was from an AD. During the journey I was shown CPO watches and could not wrap my head around the pricing.

There’s also the issue of servicing. If the rolex is serviced by a dealer than the AD, how would that affect the resale value, particularly if you want to sell it back to rolex as part of CPO… 🤔

The only relationship I see myself trying to maintain with the AD is to swing buy once in a while asking for the latest Rolex Magazine. I've always walked out of the store with the magazine in the "green shopping bag" until the last time (edition 12). Does that mean I'm no longer considered a prospective customer???

I go to my Rolex AD twice a year, try on a few models. Marvel at how overrated and over priced they are and leave happy in my decision to never buy a Rolex.
