I've been running the Banks Derringer and Pedal Monster on my '19 F-450 for 4-years now. Run the Pedal Monster on the high end of city mode, and only add power while towing and entering highways with big loads or pulling a hill. Change setting on the fly is priceless!!! Put the dual gages in a pillar pod. This setup has been great and flawless for 4-years! Started getting some P0069 & P01d4 OBD codes and D-ERR's a few months ago. Started intermittent, then became regular. Derringer let me read and reset the codes without a separate reader. Combination of OBD and Derringer codes led me to diagnose the problem to the MAP sensor. Removed the MAP sensor, cleaned out the soot build up, and haven't had it throw a code in weeks! Price was a bit of a mental block to overcome when I bought it, but I wouldn't want or recommend any other system after living with it!!! My son and some of his buddies went with some of the other mentioned systems, and they regret throwing their money away.

This is interesting but I think a new version needs to be made for the 2020 6.7 because the peak torque seems to be way down around 1500 rpm. My son has a 2020 and was pulling a small load ~ 8000 lbs and the truck just liked running at 1500-1600 rpm. The 10 speed trans just seem to keep it there and the truck pulled hard. Never the less, the Derringer sounds like the tuner to get and Gale, you are a hell of a salesman!

I don't have a Derringer, but I DO have the iDash gauge on my 2016 F-350. I LOVE this thing! I even found out I can monitor the air pressure in my tires! Great tuner! Just keep in mind you higher mileage trucks. I have 120k miles on my 2017. I go overboard on transmission maintenance. Changing fluid and filter every 30k miles. But level 5 and 6 slips the tranny and defuels the truck to keep from damaging the transmission. That’s a great feature but scares the hell out of you when you pass somebody and the truck falls on its face in the other lane. Great videos!! With the SCT tuner, did you try an email tune from a good tuner? Or just use the crap can tune? The whole point of the SCT is to get a tune custom to your vehicle. How do you tune for larger turbo/injectors? Can it handle taller tires? Re gearing? Does it tune the transmission to handle the extra power? I do like the idea of it monitoring itself!! If it can do all that, are you planning on designing one for the 6.0 powerstroke? I learned a lot about manifold air density from you. Interesting, when did manuals start coming with park? lol

The issue I always have with these dyne tests is that the pulls are always started over 2000 RPM. Correct me if I am wrong but I think the factories rate peak torque well below 2000 RPM on each of the "Big Three" heavy duty Diesel engines. This makes sense as, when towing, or when running empty, I am not going to be driving down the road at 2800 RPM. I shoot for between 1500 and 2000 RPM and expect to be on a flat, near peak torque curve and to be getting far better mpg than in a gasoline rig. Now if one is using his diesel pickup to drag race or hot rodding, by all means RPM is king.
@Clutch_Kick1875 жыл бұрын
V8 diesels rev a bit higher than the straight 6.. Lemme guess you have a cummins..
@guyconnell22505 жыл бұрын
@@Clutch_Kick187 Yup. A 5.9. But I see the same thing when Cummins are dyno tested. Even the new Ford P'Stroke and GM engines have factory rated torque that is at 1600 RPM. My point is that shifting the curve to the right may make nice numbers but is not necessarily desirable in the real world and will not yield the towing fuel economy or cruising fuel economy that at least I desire. It may make for a good drag racer however.

Honest question: how does this compare and differentiate from ez lynk? I run ez lynk in my 2017 Powerstroke , but am comparing options for my 2021 (also Powerstroke)
@bankspower4 жыл бұрын
EZ Lynk is a device that allows you to upload a flash tune to your truck's ECM. There are advantages and disadvantages of flash tuning. An advantage is that a good tuner, someone who really knows calibration, can manipulate many parameters and really fine-tune fuel management, boost, transmission line pressure, and so much more. The downside of flash tuning is that it violates your warranty, the moment you upload the tune. Markers are set that can be seen by any dealership. The Derringer is an inline tuner. It goes "inline" with sensors on engine. It intercepts these signals, alters them, then sends them along to the ECM. The truck's computer is unaware of its presence. After removal, which takes just a minute or two, there's no trace left behind. When connected, the truck's computer doesn't know that it's talking to the Derringer. it thinks it's talking to the sensors on the engine. Another major difference is that Derringer has additional safety features. Because it's connected via OBD, it monitors dozens of parameters from coolant temp, oil temp, exhaust gas temp, and more. If any temps exceed factory limits, it withdraws its added power and returns you to stock.
