Idk if youre an artist or not but to most of us a Grammy is a goal people aspire for through generations of musicians. We know our fans are our true recognition at the end of the day, but its just that childhood dream you know. That thing that made us say "I want to earn that one day". The fact that discrimination and lack of care for the actual music/art as a whole and popularity are the reason deserving artists dont get their recognition is a disgrace to the American culture because the Grammys are a staple in Amercan Music. Its should reflect the diversity of America as well then. And I know every artist doesnt feel that way of course
@trevormckinney89954 жыл бұрын
@@joe.limbus Which is why one should stay true to their craft and do it for the love of the music without expecting a grammy. Because most hip hop artists today don't deserve it. They have hits with the power of their label and the intense focus on marketing rather than the music. The grammy's want to keep it about the music so if you aspire to win a grammy. Write something good not something forgettable.
@trevormckinney89954 жыл бұрын
Most Rap music is forgettable and not even written by the artist performing it. These "Artists" don't deserve awards. This is why Igor got an award. Tyler is known to be talented. He produces his own shit and writes his own bars and is not afraid to experiment. Kendrick will win awards in the future for taking the same approach. Everyone here just feels entitled to awards because the same recycled music blows up every time but are surprised that they aren't getting rewarded for it.
@joe.limbus4 жыл бұрын
@@trevormckinney8995 you obviously dont listen to anything expect for mainstream rap. I'm not about to argue about music today because people act like good music just doesn't exist but they just dont want to look for it. Unless it already has a million fake views it doesn't exist. Tyler the creator and Kendrick started as underground artists. They didnt sound like people at the time which is the same case today for the underground. Except nobody cares to simply look because music may not really be that serious to them so they say everything new sucks just because they dont feel like doing the same shit they used to do in the first place, LISTEN

He's so right. The music industry loves black music but they only like when it's white people singing it (Adele, Ariana Grande) or dressing/talking like they are "urban" (G-Eazy, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, MGK, etc.) WAKE UP! I'm not saying not to support white artists. You can still support and love them but black artists who CREATED these genres need to be supported and acknowledged too! Do it for the culture.
@tian_obia4 жыл бұрын
Wtf are you even talking about lmao? There’s a decent diversity around acknowledged and awarded black artists and producers that make the beats as well as white. Remember the US is a country of mostly white people (60%) who make up the national fan base and some people have a preference other than Hip Hop. If Diddy is gonna try to say that it needs more recognition and diversity when Rap and Hip Hop are the most mainstream genres right now than he must have a screw loose. Just cuz a few great artists didn’t get the recognition they deserved for bodies of work doesn’t mean that they are being oppressed.

Let’s be honest. I understand what these artists are saying. However, it upsets me because we do have our own platforms for these artists to get recognized. We have the bet awards, hip hop awards, soul train etc. thing that’s upsetting these big name artists rarely be there. A lot of time artists win and they have to have somebody accept the award on their behalf. And then our big name BLACK artists will go to the Grammys, and this other white washed awards and don’t get the love they would get amongst their own. Let’s be honest a lot of our entertainers fill they haven’t made it or sell out everything to get a Grammy. Instead of the highlight being recognized by their very own. Example: I’ve forgot if I’ve ever seen jay z or Beyoncè or drake or nicki Minaj and the BET awards. Now they always win the category but you never see them there and they’re never there to accept the award. But at these shows they’re on the red carpet and perform and everything. VMA’s, MTV, you see them at all these award shows. I’m just saying they need to be more entertaining to the people who looks like them. True enough we control things US BLACKS but these artists also control who they give they’re energy to. I’m just saying.
