Bas van den Boomgaard I totally agree. I still like to play it. The only thing that reaaaally bothered me was the never ending storyline. Sure I was totally into it, especially when I got to chapter 4 or 5.. cus then I just wanted the trouble to be solved and everybody would be safe... but I feel like there was a lot of "before I get you this... you have to do this for me. But before you can get that.. you have to do something for this other guy" It just kept going on until I could move on with MY achievements. Like the main mission had side missions within which you were forced to do. Or when the teacher says, just two problems to solve! Oh but it each has A till question H. One moment I just thought "wait why am I doing this? How is this going to help me?" So especially when playing it the next times it'll be more boring imo. I honestly hated the missions till Iraq's death.

I never played the game, but many sources and talks by hackers in hacker conventions and TEDtalks all point that the hacking in Watch Dogs is actually more realistic than any other movie and game ever made. In fact everything from car hacking, traffic light controlling to pacemaker crashing are all direct references to real world hacker achievements.

The most realistic hacking game would be Street Hacker, but that game is so buggy it doesn't work anymore. A game where the main character has to eat, sleep, brush their teeth and go for shower, toilet breaks regularly probably won't be making much money. So yes, I'm not saying it's good. I'm definitely not into the hacking genre of games, but I'm more familiar with hacking as a subject. UnholyGay Llama It's definitely not a single button press in real life, but it's still closer than furiously smashing keyboards and spazzing windows. Hackers however can actually press a button and kill a preplanned target with a pacemaker, hack into ATMs with a preprogrammed card.

deathgnomes I never got nuked. Literally never. Very dissapointed :( Even when I cranked up the difficulty to 2nd highest, nothing, still dominated. Sadly, in the end, I just figured out the "perfect" way to build a civilization, and I would dominate every game that way. Mainly: make a base specifically for giving points to new ships created. Go for last-tier long-range Battleship (can't remember the name anymore). With it, with the points you can get, it will be able to, from the beginning, bombard everything in the game without being shot back. Make 20 of those. Win everything.

I died at the Rob Zombie part 😂 I love Watch_Dogs and I absolutely loved this trailer because it hit so many true key points. A lot of people argue that this game sucks because it was nothing like the E3 reveal and I agree it's not the same and that's the whole point of demos. A lot of game titles never include the footage or map/level shown in the E3 trailer. I love the game for what it is and it's perfect how it is.

Isn't it kind of weird to criticize a game because it *allows* you to go Rambo? I mean, it's the players choice if he wants to steal poor peoples money, cause the death of innocents and policemen... the player can also just avoid doing that. What if Watch Dogs wouldn't allow you to go all Rambo? I'm sure then it would be criticized for not giving the player choices! I mean, I realize Honest Trailers are *meant* to make fun of the games they feature in their trailer, but... this just feels like a cheap shot, which kind of ruins the joke. >_>

I don't get how the hacking is unrealistic. It is stated that you already have a backdoor in the system. Why should you hammer on a keyboard if you could write a script at home and access it with a single push of a button whenever you need it. aWinterCrow That's interesting. What justifies something as "false advertisement" to the point that it would become a legal issue? I suppose if you tell someone a car is brand new and works like a charm, and then they turn it on and it explodes, the person who advertised it falsely should be held accountable, but I hardly think a slight decrease in graphical capabilities warrants a lawsuit to that extreme. I'm also curious about these "shitty mechanics" that don't relate to the plot. Most of the mechanics in the game involve using your phone to do certain things in the world by hacking them. That sounds exactly like what the plot of the game is about, so I don't really understand where that argument came from.

Okay, step by step. When you're watching an E3 trailer that says that footage is captured in engine in a real console or PC, and it's actually not, that's false advertising. If you open a box and the product is not what the box portrayed, that's false advertising. If you advertise that if you use this deodorant you'll become Terry Crews, that's false advertising, and believe it or not there's countries here in Europe that'll have you sued for that. When you say "this is how Watchdogs looks like" and then it doesn't, that's false advertising. Literally. Now, on with the shitty mechanics. So, Aiden is a hacker that got double crossed when trying to steal money, and got his niece killed because of that, and he'll feel guilty forever. Then he goes on to: - Keep stealing money from civilians - Murder in cold blood - Cause several accidents, damage public property, etc - Steal cars and crash them into bad guys' cars - And the list goes on So basically, he keeps doing what killed his niece in the first place, AND keeps killing people himself. In addition to this, killing is usually optional, but you have no reward for going for a stealth or no kill run, and you have no actual penalty for killing. Not in the plot, not in the game, not in the city. Then, since you have no reward for doing it "the right way", you notice that going for a murderfest is actually the best way to achieve your goals. So, not only does the game fail in rewarding you for being the Aiden the plot wants you to be, it actually makes the wrong choice the easier one. From a game design perspective, this is utterly bad. We could go on with the faulty driving system, the limited and boring functions of hacking, some awkward plot twists, how the police AI will always shoot at you instead of heavily armed thugs... It is a very clear example on how the game mechanics and general gameplay tells exactly the opposite than the plot or character design. I.E bad gameplay design. P.S. Oh I forget, you steal cars you can open with a tap of your phone, but nobody can locate the goddamn car and there are no consequences to your theft either. Performance wise, by the way, the game falls pretty short too.
