Vintage ends up needing more frequent and costly servicing. You could do a 5 watch $5000 collection with 0 vintage also. Longines Spirit 37mm - $2400 Orient Bambino 37mm - $220 PRX - $650 Seiko 5 GMT - $475 Tissot Heritage Porto manual wind - ~$1000 All list price, no discounts. All automatic. You get a tonneau, integrated bracelet, diver, GMT, dress watch, and an Explorer style watch.

@@fark69 I had many watches serviced and repolished if I sold any of these today I'd at least 2x what I spent, it's a gamble but I collect mostly Zenith watches and they are a charm for my watchmaker. I had issues with servicing a Gruen once but I paid about 20$ for it at a yard sale when they were about 500$, so the then "stupid" 800$ I spent on parts and service wasn't wasted since it's worth about 1300$ today. A good watchmaker is needed tho, that's the hard part.

Thank you Nico. It’s really inspiring to see a watch collection I’m more easily able to afford. I love watches but I work in a humanitarian organization. The pay isn’t what most dream of when they set their eyes on a future salary. But I love what I do. Now having a good frame of mind when it comes to a watch collection I’m more reasonably able to afford over a period of time gives me direction. Cheers brother.

I have a prx quartz in 35mm. I usually wouldn't go for quartz, but the size of the powermatic 80 was too big for my wrist. They didn't have the 35mm in automatic yet. You forgot the Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional. A watch with the specs of the Planet Ocean that costs less than 1/6th the price. You might want to read about that one. It seems to have gone under a lot of people's radar. I came across it by accident when I was looking at Tissot's catalogue. I'd never owned a Tissot before but I'd heard great things about their watches. I love dive watches and I have wide and flat slablike wrists so 40mm looks lost on my wrist. I've worn an Invicta Grand Diver #3049 for about ten years and wanted to upgrade. I have to tell you though, that Grand Diver is phenomenal. It still looks the way it did when it was brand-new and it has never needed service of any kind (not even regulating). It's also not nearly as much of a homage as the smaller Pro Diver. The Grand Diver is definitely its own watch and at 47mm, it fit my wrist. Well, I came across the Seastar 1000 and thought "A bit small" even though it's larger than 40mm. When I saw that glorious etched dial on the Seastar 2000 however, I was in love. When I saw the specifications that nearly match the Planet Ocean my jaw was on the floor. When I picked it up from my local AD, I was in heaven. That heaven has persisted. You really should check out that watch and if you think I'm wrong, you can call me a dumb Canadian c*nt if you want to (and I know that you'll want to)! I don't think that I am wrong though and I say that the Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional is F*CKING VALUE GOD-TIER!!! Cheers mate! 😆
