But people in general act like RM watches are shit because people like Niko act like they're not worth it, but I believe they'll hold their value. As no one who owns a RM really needs to sell it, so they'll only sell it if the price is rising. Regardless, they are great watches even if the asthetic is not for me.

The story of how Seiko caused the watch apocalypse had enough mistakes in it to be almost called wrong. - The Swiss were the first to make Quartz movements. - Seiko beat the Swiss with their mechanical movements first before they beat them with their superior Quartz movements. - Grand Seiko and King Seiko existed back then, but they were Japan-exclusive. If you think those were bad watches, maybe you're right (you still don't like Grand Seiko anyway so you could just think they're shit), but they had a proper watch industry for a while. Seiko is 140 years old. So yeah, the Swiss lost to Japan's mechanical movements and precision manufacturing before they were destroyed by their quartz movements.

The Japanese didn't suck at making mechanical watches. They were simply late to the game. That being said, they ended up making superior mechanical watches to that of the Swiss. There's a very important detail missing from your abridged Swiss mechanical watches versus Japanese mechanical watches story. The Japanese ended up wiping the floor with the Swiss at the last Swiss observaotry trials. The Japanese beat the Swiss at their own game, claiming the top prizes for mechanical watches. Ironically, it was the Swiss who introduced quartz to the trials. After the Japanese humiliated the Swiss, the latter canceled the trials. Later, the Japanese beat the Swiss at their own game again, introducing more affordable quartz watches, thereby triggering the quartz crisis.

Hey Nico, watchmaker here, that is definitely a 5711 with aftermarket diamonds and not a 5719. The 5719 does not have diamonds on the side of the case or bracelet and if you look closely you can see diamonds set around the entirety of JB's watch.
