Hamilton Khaki King Automatic! If it's good enough for Doctor House, it's good enough for me. ;) And I believe it was actually Hugh Laurie's PERSONAL watch, as I also saw him wear it during multiple interviews at the time. He wore the black dial/brown leather strap model for the first few seasons of the show, until switching to a digital Casio because it was an 'In Story' gift to his character (House) from another character on the show (Kutner).

I just bought my first ever nice watch. I went with the khaki field mechanical. It is undoubtedly the best watch for around $500. Swiss-made, mechanical, sapphire crystal, tons of legacy and heritage. Unbeatable for the money.

My wife owns a Tag Heuer link quartz with diamond indexes and mother of pearl dial. I wanted to buy her a proper luxury automatic but she refused. She even had me returned a beautiful Tissot heart automatic that I wanted to gift her. She got on with the Swatch craze and owned 3 variants. bought my first ever watch last month... it's a 280$ Dan Henry 1962 Racing Chronograph... it came with 1 extra leather strap a leather folding bag where you can store 3 straps or 3 watches on your travels..i also paid 80$ extra for a stainless steel bracelet... i'd say it feels and looks more expencive than other watches you see in shoping centers at that price range... love it

The majority of Maen's catalogue is 36-38mm, with nothing over 39mm (a bit small for me). I do like the Skymaster and the Brooklyn but please make at least a 40mm version guys!

I own several Tissots, but not the PRX. People do not realize how large and great their catalog is for under 1k, like the Gentleman, the LeLocle, and my favorite the Couturier line, they even have several COSC certified Chronographs for under 1000. Also in that category the Mido Commander and Oceanstar, and Hamilton Field and Railroad lines. Swatchgroup has some of the best budget automatic lines out there, and really good quality and classy looking.

I got a Citizen Nissan Fairlady Z watch from Nissan HQ on a business trip and I love it. It has great function super light as its Titanium and a little over 1k with duty free.

The interesting thing is that the PRX's movement is kind of crap. Tissot makes similar watches with their high accuracy quartz movement for about the same price. But as Nico noted, nobody notices the other 50 models they sell. The way to spot them is to check if they have 3 or more jewels (vs the standard 2) in their quartz movement or list "Heavydrive". I have one in my collection and it's accurate to about 2 seconds a month. The Powermatic 80 is.. meh as a movement.
