Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday, a day that leading Republicans and other featured attendees were focused on the themes of safety and immigration.
DeSantis was one of several candidates who ran for president against former President Donald Trump during the 2024 Republican primary. While he finished second in the Iowa Caucuses, DeSantis lagged far behind, earning 21% of the vote to Trump's 51%. The governor dropped out of the presidential race right before the New Hampshire primary and endorsed Trump.
During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president. On Monday, Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
