JCB is unparalleled in his way of thinking about the product and the industry. Needless to say. Thank you for putting together this phenomenal group of panelists.

Probably a minority thinking this way but to me Biver real passion is not watches but it's marketing and money.

That is actually not wrong. Maybe the money itself is secondary since it comes with marketing but definitely marketing. Look at what he did with Blancpain ("Never a quartz Blancpain"), Omega (James Bond), Tag Heuer and obviously Hublot.

@@thomasa.243 I understand but I can't connect with him on that level. I know he is very respected but not from my POV. I have listened to many interviews and it's always about beating the competition and be number 1. I think the watchmaker s of those brands made it happen, those are the real heros to me. Look at Max, that's the type of leader that I respect because he always puts others ahead of him despite his ego. Biver could have done this in any industry including the automotive industry cause his skills are about sales and marketing. So far I have been pretty good at not buying any of the watch models he worked on but in the end it's only my POV which really means nothing, certainly not to Biver.

@@TonioToutBeau True. I mean, it is not only the watchmakers that made it happen but basically the whole team (financial experts, IT experts, marketing, HR, etc.). At the end, the boss gets all the credits. Always... If Mr. Biver was from Germany, he would maybe lead Mercedes, in the UK maybe some bank, etc. He is a good salesman, was lucky with the time he is alive and was young, the region and family he is born into, etc. Did he do good for the watchindustry? Mostly, yes. But I don't see him as the god-like figure some are seeing him.

JCB is a story teller and money maker. As a watch enthusiast, I could not care less about his contributions in the areas of marketing and product management. In terms of watches, all I can see is that he turned the beautiful and iconic original Hublot model into a farce of a watch.

JCB is true leader, who else answer when asked are you a one of the greatest watch genius, and he would say it's my people. Same there are not more ppl like JCB is this world. Maybe we only need a few to appreciate how great they are, rather than a dime a dozen.
