After today’s testimony, this case is very strong circumstantially. If you go to sleep at night and there’s no snow on the ground and wake up in the morning and there’s snow on the ground, you can reasonably assume it snowed during the night. Here, AM is at the crime scene minutes before the shootings, he lies about that to LEOs, he admits nobody else was at the kennels but him and the wife and son, he takes off and doesn’t bother to go back to the kennels 1100 yards away, even though repeated messages or calls to his wife go unanswered, and he goes to his parent’s house. He’s whacked out on pills, his whole world is collapsing in on him. He snapped and shot them both. Nobody else was around, and they didn’t shoot themselves.

So very, deeply odd and disturbing ... at the end of the court day and two days of grueling testimony on the stand, Alex stands up as the judge dismisses court and Buster is 2-3 rows behind him. Buster is his only remaining child and immediate family member among Maggie, Paul and Buster. Alex never turns around to look for or wave goodbye to or acknowledge his only remaining son. Likewise, Buster walks the entire row of seats to exit behind his father and never calls out to his dad or tries to get his attention to even look at him before his dad gets locked up for yet another weekend. Of all the things that don't make sense, that is the oddest of all to me. For as much sobbing, crying, and professing as Alex does about his family, he offers not one glance or attempt to connect with his son who should be a major source of support and comfort for him and likewise a father for his remaining son who, too, has suffered unimaginable loss. I would do everything I could to see my child at the beginning and end of each day in such a situation. These moments in this courtroom are likely the few remaining times father and son will ever have without a window or bars separating them. I will never understand their behavior.

Two other weird and great mysteries of this saga: 1) why would Eddie Smith risk capital punishment or life in prison for killing Alex for NOTHING but Alex asking him and Eddie saying yes "on a whim" that morning, and 2) why didn't Eddie come around and finish the job he was supposed to do by putting another bullet or two in Alex's head instead of leaving Alex alive to rat Eddie out? This is like one of those unbelievable mob hits where the hitman botches the job when it was so easy to complete. But, agreeing to kill Alex for no money or payment is absolutely the craziest thing ever. Eddie would trade his entire life in prison or on death row for nothing? That's impossible for me to believe. Instead, I choose to believe Eddie was asked to miss or graze Alex so Alex wouldn't die, but would have a big sympathy tale to tell to make sure everyone knew how pitiful his life had become -- yet another, deeper example of how desperate he had become so people would feel sorry for him and ultimately back off. Look at the timeline. That kennel video 8:47 and sends. I believe they were shot 8:49 and seconds later. Alex would either had to be there or on his way back to house. No way is he getting out of this. I'm convinced HE did it. Prosecution needs to put up a timeline chart minute by minute and in big different color at bottom HE LIED and ONLY TOLD TRUTH YESTERDAY He cannot get away with it. Look at phone timeline. He is a lawyer (Alex). He stays ahead and he must be expert fooling people or he'd been caught stealing long ago. As a juror I wouldn't believe a word and sentence to lufe. I believe his thinking was that by taking the stand and admitting to the financial crimes which is likely to end up in him getting locked up for a very long time, the jury would then wonder why he's not admitting to killing his family the same way he's admitted other wrongs if he truly did it. It could have worked but he lied about certain facts in the murders and that's thrown this whole strategy into the bin.
@arctic6650 Жыл бұрын
While he's admitting to committing the financial crimes, it should be noted that he has already in priminary hearings stated, through his same attorneys, that he is going to plead not guilty to those same financial crimes, presumable by saying that the drugs made him do it and that he is not responsible.

His family was becoming a roadblock to him and are now a problem....not only for him but also for the silent partners(?).... needs to be taken care of, especially if he his starting to feel pressure from " outside sources". Alec may have gotten upset that his wife and son kept his drugs from him while he was having withdrawals (even though he denied being in withdrawals the day of the murders). I wonder if he felt like he was in a hole or cornered by that coupled with the fact that he was about to be exposed for all the money he stole while Paul appeared to not be doing anything to start his career and Maggie was going off and getting manicures. They were all spending all the money that he had stolen and then it became the money he didn't have. I think that could cause a psychotic break that could lead him to getting so angry with them that he took their lives. I'm sure he regrets it now, if he really did it and that's what we're seeing his emotions come from. He's sad for himself that he ruined his entire life and then Maggie and Paul being dead is an afterthought of guilt. He's a coward.
