I am amazed that the newscaster in the helicopter, who stares at police cars all the day, can't tell the difference between a CHP unit and an LAPD unit. CHP has very distinct lighting, and markings. LAPD cars look nothing like it. All the cars at the airport were LAPD.

The police chopper was flying a racetrack pattern adjacent to the airport space. The news chopper was a considerably greater distance away and at a greater height to deconflict it with runway traffic. And the pilots or copilots are in constant communication with AC and TC.

You are clueless; they back off for safety. The helicopter will follow him until other units can take over the pursuit. It was already out of LA jurisdiction; usually, they would turn it over to the CHP when it was on the freeway. The CHP has a lot more units and can better contain it. The watch commander was following the department's policy. So go back to your basement.
