The perps usually cut a plea deal that gets approved by a leftist judge, then they do some community service and they're back out on the streets to do it again. Rinse and repeat. What makes me so mad about carjacking is, they have taken someone's vehicle that they use to get to work, take their children to school, doctors to go get food. They don't care the person whose vehicle has been stolen will not get the same amount for the vehicle, its going to take awhile for the insurance to write them a check and in the meantime they can loose their job and home.

Most people live paycheck-to-paycheck, and if you're only just making ends meet, you may not have the extra funds to afford alternative transportation in the meantime (renting, leasing, whatever) while insurance works on getting you less than what you need to buy a new vehicle. Given that this is a pickup truck, doubly so if it's a work vehicle.

Don’t know what his motive was, but from the tracking he seemed depressed. Take this into consideration. He showed no excessive speeds, and his actions exiting the truck tame. Something is going on his life. Sad. Great job PD.

As a news item I feel cheated somehow in that It appears that we will not easily learn what really happened. Was he a carjacker or not? Was he guilty of anything ? Why was he slow in exiting the vehicle ? In this case it happened only 2 months ago so it is unlikely he has been to court except on bond hearing. (most likely). His case wont go to trial for maybe a year or more. So much for the right to a speedy trial.

pit maneuvers are insanely dangerous for all involved. This was slow, obviously nobody was put in immediate danger with an empty freeway. And when he stopped, he clearly couldn't travel further. Blocking him in *may* have been better (but I'm inclined to let the literal professionals make that call), but a peaceful, non-violent arrest is the ideal ending, and they executed that part flawlessly here.
