If the client is really nontechnical and aren't comfortable signing up the services on their own I'll get them to make me an email under their domain, give me a card, and then do it all myself! But this is a sufficiently important topic that it makes sense to do a video imo, so I'll record one on this for you 🙏

When I got the calendly meeting confirmation URL from the Typeform, it's not like yours. Yours has "scheduled_events" part, but I don't have that part and ID strings either. Am I missing something? Appreciate this man. I prefer ClickUp for everything, more customizable imo and I like the way it looks. But both are functionally equivalent-you can do everything in one that you can in the other. So i.e if I was working with a client who had most of their infra built in Monday I'd stay on it. Likewise if I was taking over a business and everything was built in another integratable platform like Airtable I'd probably keep stay on it as well. Hope this helps bro.

Appreciate this Santiago! Yes, that's right. I always use a two-step design pattern for Typeforms to separate trigger from action. This makes the flow really easy to test, and prevents me from having to resubmit Typeforms all the time during development. But Typeform submissions take a few milliseconds to hit their database-sometimes you don't need a sleep, other times you do. So the flat sleep is just a workaround. Hope this helps you man 🙏

My question to you is, why would someone pay you $2500 for this project if they can get the same service from a CRM like Pipedrive in $15/month? Wow - talk about 'in at the deep end' Nick. I'm really interested in this area as a way to build a new business. I have a tech background as a product manager but I don't code. I've started the Make courses and I'm now on intermediate. I thought this 'entry level' $2.5K would be a good check in but boy how wrong was I. I feel like I don't know anything. Realistically, how long would it take if I'm watching, doing 4-6 hours a day on learning this stuff to get to a point where I could reasonably expect to look for new clients and be a credible solution for them ? Any video's on 'your first paid job' .I'm based in the UK fyi.

Appreciate the comment man. You have so many options available to you at the beginning (and frankly that's why it can be so overwhelming). Personally I found success focusing on a few specific product routes-CRM builds and lead generation systems mostly. Get yourself in front of people and make it a priority to have a handful of meaningful conversations per day. The law of large numbers will sort out the rest. Hope this helps man 🙏

To be honest this was incredibly low-ROI and didn't teach me the skills that matter-i.e how to build and sell growth systems-so I made my own course on it for ppl like you. How do you handle clients with existing software flows? Do you sell them on ClickUp?

If they already have a sizeable amount of their infra set up on another platform, and it's possible for me to build the same functionality there, I'll usually do it (and charge a premium). Goal is to minimize bumps during the transition wherever possible, and using the same software is the easiest way to do that. But if their platform sucks, I'll defo recommend ClickUp or another more modern tool. It makes my life easier over the weeks and months afterwards, and is usually much more cost effective to boot.

Why CRMs instead of just using spread sheets like Google sheets. Seems pretty similar…😂

You know I used to wonder at that myself. Sheets is much simpler from an automation POV, probably takes 1/2 the time. But the more of these I develop the more I come to realize the primary issue in CRM work isn't building the system, it's building adherence. Most people using your CRM are going to be nontechnical, and often the UX is a lot simpler and more enjoyable than Google Sheets. This creates a feedback loop where they use it more often -> become more organized -> come back to the CRM next time they need something. And when the whole team is on the same CRM productivity usually goes up 2-3x. In contrast I can't tell you the number of "CRM" Google Sheets I've seen at the average org that nobody ever uses anymore because its intimidating, or ppl are afraid to muck up a complex column formula. So yes-they are functionally very similar under the hood. But one looks and feels better, and in practice that's a big deal!

Hey Jason! Some additional time with the flowchart, hr or so. And there's usually a change or two requested before finalization. So in total it's prob closer to 4-5. As a freelancer/agency note a fair amount of your time goes to sales, so the "hourly rate" here is not 2500/4 = $625. Probably less than a third of that if we were to take it all at face value (calls, proposals, sales admin, etc). Still, I'd price around here for your first client, and then gradually work your way up to 2x-3x as you get more comfortable with the nuances of CRMs. Hope this helps 🙏
