The most complete channel of fashion design on KZbin. I was delighted to watch the whole "Watch me Design" serie from video1 to video17 in only 2 days. I have absorved so much with those videos then in an entire life of study. Oh, no. Hold on a sec...I didn't study fashion yet. I am an accountant. Anyway, in 2021 I am going to Fashion School as soon as Covid19 give us all a break. Thanks, Zoe.

I've never made any kind of board at fashion school. At home by myself I haven't made any boards except for pinterest boards but usually I just have an idea for a collection and then save a gazillion pics from online and organize them into folders on my computer and folders with subfolders. I write notes on a piece of paper of all the inspirations, colour ideas, muses, styles, elements etc and then I scroll through some of my pics I saved and start sketching rough bodies with outfits. Sometimes when I'm collecting pics from online I'll stop and start sketching before saving the next pic and stopping and sketching. This design along I didn't even bother doing that. I just wrote my ideas on a piece of paper, sketched the idea I already had in my head then did a google image search for birds on my phone and as I scrolled down and saw something inspiring I sketched a bit of an outfit, scrolled down and saw something else cool and added a bit more to the same outfit. Sometimes at this point I'd just finish the outfit on my own without looking at anything but keeping my notes in mind and other times I'd find another pic or 2 that was inspiring and add one or 2 new elements to the outfit. So far I've done 20 outfits and just a sketch of just a collar idea. I don't think I even know all the different types of boards. I think I thought a mood board was the inspiration board at the start and ongoing as you come across inspiring things and adding it to the board as you explore. So this is interesting that you made an exploration book but didn't start doing a mood board till after all that work you've done already. So this board isn't for sketching and designing? Even if you were a creative director with a team? I've seen designers with inspo books that they add to as they go and refer to as they are coming up with designs and a lot of the designing happening on the mannequin draping and trying different things. So the process is really interesting to watch. I was going to write down my list of birds then go on my computer to search and save images for each one and save into a folder and pick out ones I like for my colour story. I'm going to go and see what other videos you have on boards and give those a watch. I've seen on TV other boards by I think Courtney Love and a fashion blogger where they do a mood board to present to a bunch of people at a meeting to work on a project or collaboration so in that case they're doing the mood board first or inspiration board. I don't know my boards clearly. I think this is the last video in this playlist for this series and this video is a year old so I'm not sure if now you're still going to continue and add to it but I'd be interested in watching the next step

Hello Zoe! Thank you for this great video. I have a question about the order of doing things: you say in this video that you should sort through your croquis and that can help you edit your mood board. But I've been following your "Fashion Design Tutorial" Series and there you state that concept dev + mood board come first. Croquis/sketching doesn't start until step 4. So from this I understood that the first thing to do is sketchbook exploration, then colour story, then I pick out the best bits of my sketchbook exploration and transfer that to my finalised mood board. So my mood board is now completed. How can I go back and edit the mood board if it's already glued and finished? Was I supposed to do croquis/sketches before finalising my mood board? Perhaps I missed the video where this was explained or just misunderstood altogether :S Your videos are so helpful! :)
@zoehongteaches3 жыл бұрын
I typically do a rough mood board and do a new, final one for presentation purposes. And typically, mood boards are done in Photoshop, even if sketchbook dev is done on paper.

I love these videos but I still have no clue how to create a mood board for my class. I have to have it on the first day of class in two weeks. I have my five designs and flats but have never done a mood board.....witch is really frustrating because I am one class away from a double associate degree in merchandising and fashion design.
