I did my retie using my new camera which is a Sony a 6100. I really am just learning how to work it, but so far, it's really cool. The app that I used doing the retie was the Sony Imaging Edge. I'm sure other camera's have an app like this as well, but I want you to see what I just discovered, and maybe it can help you.

This video is such a blessing. I am installing my own braid Locs and started to get insecure. But your videos encourage me to keep going and to have faith in the process. Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to see. You helped me decide to go ahead and braid loc my hair. You’re right about the newly loc look. Mine looks so thin, but you have helped me keep the vision as the locs get older. Won’t be ready for the retouch for a little while , but I stay focused now I know what to look forward to. Thanks, millions!

Thank you for sharing. I am getting sister locs or maybe just thinner locs but not sisterlocs bc I only want around 500, (I think 600 is too much, even for my big head!) installed early next year and once they are established, I plan to do some of my reties. This is very helpful!

I started with braidlocks in 2012. I have not used conditioner on my hair since then. I do have some gradual thinning in the hair in the top of my head, just like my mom and grandmother. I am probably not a good candidate for that joico conditioner because the Shea Moisture coconut oil baby wash and shampoo is so slippery and full of moisture that it even causes my hair to unravel, even after all these years of being locked. My hair is fairly soft naturally. But I do use the shea moisture chamomile and Argan oil shampoo because I do not get buildup from it and it is very gentle. Thank you for showing us your retie technique. You are enabling me to refine my technique. I will try to use the three-point instead of the four-point and see if we can create some thicker looking hair. Actually I’m going to research the two-point rotation first to see the effect it has on the locs. My luxe are real thin. Mine actually look like starter locks, the scalply look.I do have what looks like skinny curly Braids latch hooked through the roots to make my hairstyle look fuller. It works and I like it.

They sell a 3 way mirror on Amazon! It’s listed as a barber mirror and it can be hung off a door. I used it to install my braid locs

@@Dominique_Regine I actually considered buying one but because I have no bathroom door (only a curtain for privacy) there is nothing to anchor the mirror to.

How long did the retie take? I love this so much I just dont want to be scalpy bc I have fine low density hair and scared I'll be chicken head while I'm forever hoping praying and waiting for some thickness. 😄🙏 so I just keep watching everybody's journey to get my fix 😍

I love that you used the camera for the back. Enjoyed this video and learned a few things. Your hair looks so beautiful ☺️ Question-have you always used a leave in conditioner even before your hair locked?
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. No, I didn’t use any type of conditioner until my hair loc’ed. I tried once when I was about 2 months into my journey, and a loc totally unraveled. Once my hair loc’ed, I consistently used conditioner.

Having a camera like that so you can see what you are doing at the back is real cool. But I can see what you mean about wanting to straighten up the parts. I think when you can't see it allows you to go faster and once it feels neat you are more satisfied than when can see it. So I guess there are pros and cons to using that cool camera during retightening lol

You are right. I’ll use the camera if I need to see my scalp in the back, but not for my reties.

I love the look of the hair style, I just don’t know if I have the patience for it, looks like a lot of maintenance upkeep.
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 2 жыл бұрын
The daily maintenance is negligible, but when it’s time for a retie, which is every 3 months for me right now, it takes some significant time. But, I’m a DIY’er. If I went to a loctician, it would only take less than 2 hours to retie. I just like doing my own hair. So it really depends on if you are going to self maintain or not.

Have you ever created a hole? I have heard that with interlocking not to create a hole. It's like going through the same space...something like that... also. Have you dealt with budding or bunching? Thanks again!
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 3 жыл бұрын
I've never had a hole, but I've heard the same thing as well, it just never happened to me. Yes, I've experienced budding and bunching, but that was at the beginning of my loc journey. My hair is fully loc'ed now, so I don't have those issues anymore. Budding and bunching are usually at the beginning of the loc'ing stage.

Thank you so much. I just posted a video yesterday on dyeing my hair. Also, the conditioner I used on that video was Paul Mitchell, The Conditioner. I’ve tried any other natural hair conditioners, and they tend to weigh my locs down, and make them feel gummy. It might be because of my hair type, but this works for me.
