Man I understand the struggle. It's difficult as a creator too because you have to publish a video. You can't just leave it in the garage and take care of it later. You kind of have to figure things out on the fly and it makes working on projects that much harder and time consuming. Still, the 40 looks amazing. Great job so far on this build.

With all the custom touches and modifications you've done on this FJ, those tail lights are so sanitary. Fitting glass can be super frustrating for sure. Awesome job on everything, defiantly one of the best builds for sure.

Thanks man! Yes glass is no fun when you have the wrong gaskets!

Even with the right gasket it’s super hard too. I’ve tried to replace my Land Cruiser pickup canopy glass and it was an epic fail

I must admit to having a quiet chuckle regards your window gasket woes, its nice to see that you are the same as the rest of us, window instals always got the better of me too (at least you haven't broken one yet). I admire your engineering, and like that you admit your failures along with your victories. This is definitely a project that seems to be a case over build, in that a stock FJ would probably go everywhere this one will go, just not quite as fast or as pretty. One would hope that you will make some vids of you actually wheeling this beast. One suggestion regards the looks .... consider powder coating/painting the bolt/screw heads, the silver looks out of place. This isnt a criticism of the build , I love it, would I want it, hell yes ... would I wheel it, NO its too nice to bend or break ( I'm not a lot different to you in that regard). Keep up the great work.

This rig is amazing - I’m binging all the episodes. You’ve done such a great job! My only thought was, is there any drainage from your tail light frames? If water makes it past the light gasket it looks like it might pool against the body?
@Nilezy6 ай бұрын
Awesome work Austin! If you still have the third gasket, you could try using bug screen spline in between the main gasket and the glass in the channel. You can get pretty small spline that will compress and fill that gap and keep the glass secure. Might be a pain to install as it will be pretty tight, but it might work

Your tint DOTS is dirt between the glass and the tint! Use more water to clean the glass and DO NOT LAY the glass flat! Lean them against something so you can soak the crap out of them.! The soap and water washes out the dirt. You have to use a lot of water.!

As always enjoy watching the build progress. It is funny that you mentioned everyone thinking it's been so long since you last posted. But it has felt like it has been longer lol. Just really enjoying seeing the progress and it's not letting anyone down. It's a great rig.. 👍 it looks fantastic. The hiccups with the windows will work out. Curious, did Toyota have two bumperettes on the rear bumper ? Anyway, again this is a great looking rig and seeing it all come back together. It's a lot of fun. 😎👍
@Tfr21356 ай бұрын
All the rubbers you showed in your video needs an aditional strip inside the rubber. You should put the rubber inbetween the window and the car with the "third" opening on the side pointed outwards. After placing the window you ad the filler stip. This strip compresses te rubber so it locks te window in place.
@austinniemela6 ай бұрын
Yes this is exactly how I did it, the gaskets are simply the wrong size!
@somdood32926 ай бұрын
cant you try the string trick on the newest gaskets you bought that looked like theyd work?? they just look like they need some love, maybee put the gasket on the glass and then try installing or use a plastic trim removal tool and run it around the window edge under the rubber to pull the flappy flap... idk man been watchin this build since you had chassis complete which was when i found it through youtube and binge watched it and now its just sick... glass or no glass, also those dots are dust under the tint....

I've wanted to try that. We used to put clear coat on the paint booth glass... once it got covered in paint dust... take an air hose and blow the clear coat off. We couldn't have electric inside the booth so the booth was made of glass with exterior lights

Two observations from your window install. Put para cord in the rubber seal and use it to pull the seal through ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6fGe5KiisSJprM ) . The second install the lock seal into the rear window and check the fitment before rejecting that seal size as the lock rubber may take up the slack.
