Thank you so much for showing us how to make those cute little sun-catchers with pressed flowers. That will be my next project. Also, I wanted to compliment your video making skills. Everything was so clear and the close-ups are awesome. You are so talented and much appreciated.

Your cutting/breaking skills are impeccable! Looks like you have very little grinding to do after that.

Thanks, it always depends on the glass though! Some glass breaks ridiculously easy, and there's very little clean-up, but then other glass has a mind of its own and requires a fair amount of grinding

Wow! This is such a cool idea! I could really run with this, as I have been saving flower petals for years ( by fall it's a little overwhelming). Thank you!!!🌻🌈❤🍂🦃

Your instructions are so clear and very nice video! I have a couple of questions though. when you apply the Mod Podge, it is ok to use Elmer's glue or Wellbond? Is there a reason you use Mod Podge? Second, after the glue has dried, it seems you need to be vey carefu cutting the flowers between the pieces of glass. do they tend to tear or move? This is outstanding work!! Thank you.

Thanks! I just used mod podge because it's what I had on hand. Any all-purpose glue will work, as long as it dries clear (which the two you mentioned do), you can use archival glue if you want to be extra careful. I recently got Aleenes Tacky Glue to try out. You just need to be careful trimming the flowers after you glue them so they don't pop off the glass - they are fragile.

Awesome! Could you lay the pattern on the orange glass in the pumpkin shape, and then cut it out? Like, with no spaces...one cut does one side of two pieces, for pieces 7 & 8...

Yes! Definitely could have done it that way too. I try to share as many edges as I feel comfortable with. In this case, I didn't know how this glass would break (some glass is so easy to break, and some is completely unpredictable) so I didn't want to risk breaking any tips off.

@@SamanthaAshleyGlass Excellent response! I try to do it all in one piece when I can, but there is often a casualty :p I wondered if that was a 'thing' to strive for, but you're right about the glass. Thanks again!

Love this. Do the flower and leaves stay preserved over time?

If you keep it out of the sun, the colors last for quite a while, but if you hang it in a window, they'll fade. But in the window, you mostly see the silhouette of the flowers anyways

I have a flower press, so I just cut the stems off the flowers and they just get pressed between cardboard and paper in this contraption.

Such a cute project! Thanks for sharing! Can you tell me what kind of clear glass you are using? Is it clear stained glass or is it a thinner picture frame glass? Also, was wondering, how did you cut your flowers to fit each pattern piece if you glued them down to the glass first? I was interested in that part and it was skipped in the video darn it, lol! Thanks again, you're very talented! 😀
@SamanthaAshleyGlass
@SamanthaAshleyGlass 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Lol oops, I just took an x-acto knife to cut the flowers. For this project, I just used standard clear glass that I got at the stained glass shop - you could also use thinner picture frame glass. I'm going to try using the thinner glass on my next project, cause this was a little thick.

@@SamanthaAshleyGlass I have tried picture frame glass from the dollar store before to plate butterfly wings. However, I always had trouble with the Flux seeping inbetween the glass. Started using just a minute amount of paste Flux and no water once cleaning and that did seem to help. Thanks for the exacto idea! I can see now how that would work well! 😀

Great video but you should have latex gloves and a respirator or really good ventilation when you use patina, that stuff is gnarly.
@SamanthaAshleyGlass
@SamanthaAshleyGlass 2 жыл бұрын
That is a great point, thanks! I do currently wear gloves whenever I use patina, after realizing how nasty it really is! =)
