Cool tent! I highly recommend getting an extendable pole to support the middle of the roof. If any snow builds up on there, the weight will collapse the roof. Amazon carries some that are made for tents and awnings that have a point that goes through eyelets of tarps and there is a round ball that covers it that works perfectly to support the tent/tarp without poking through it. I think through brond has the word elephant in the name. They come in 2 lengths, so make sure you get the longer ones.
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors11 күн бұрын
Yes absolutely. If you watch some of my other videos where I sleep during the snowy night, I cut a small wooden pole and smooth off the top of it and then pop that up in the middle for the night

Hey Chuck, nice video ! love the channel too. @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors13 күн бұрын
You can get the one like I had previously with the grey interior. Eskimo fatfish 949ig (g standing for grey)
@iancurran476014 күн бұрын
Nice tent thought I might have to switch to an Eskimo but my otter resort still has more square footage lol. You did gain some head room you’re really going to like the door. I never put the rods around mine yet seems to work ok with out them. Still no snow here yet was pretty warm here today but that might be changing soon. I see Jay has 5inches of ice up his way lucky guy. I bought the 45 degree elbow this year so I can still use the windows as well if I want to configure inside differently instead of my stove jack. Kinda gives a person options hope all is well stay safe and we will see you in the next video Ian

Looks mint. My otter pop up tent has a window in the roof so I was able to just take it out and traced a piece of welding blanket and sewed Velcro to make a stove jack. I also had to angle it using two 45’s because straight up it was kissing the tenting and melting it. Trail and error.

When I did this a year ago in my Eskimo ice fishing tent I Removed one of the velcroed windows I got a silicon cooking sheet.Cut it in the shape of the windows Added Velcro cut a hole on it. And went out the window with my stove pipe using a couple of 90s. I felt this was a better solution because I didn't want holes in my roof or wall.And I could seal it back up With the original window when I Wanted To use my buddy heater.
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors10 күн бұрын
Have seen a bunch of people do it this way and works nice as well. I was seeking a more permanent solution this time and something with a little tighter seal. Very pleased with it thus far
@oh-brothers15 күн бұрын
I wonder how those really big pop-up tents handle high winds out on the lake? Also, putting the chimney on an angle makes it harder to find a wind directional backdraft stopper/chimney cap. Maybe a second angled stove pipe to make it vertical again would work.

If you have sawdust soak it in a bucket if you have lots use a blue plastic barrel scoop some out after soaking for a day or two make a brick mold stuff it full of saw dust put it under a press press the water out let sit for a while take it out let it continue to dry now you have a brick that will burn longer and ive herd hotter great for night time so you dont have to keep getting up to feed the fire to stay warm lol just a good way to use up sawdust on the property there are videos out there on how to make them also paper as well.

No (as it’s primarily meant for drilling holes and fishing out of). However, people often use those padded mats from Walmart that are about 2’ x 2’ and interlock together. I don’t bother as there’s really no need. Even at -30 or colder

You cut the chimney hole to big... it should be a snug fit .. no air gaps for water to get in
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors10 күн бұрын
It’s only big when it’s inserted straight up and down. When it goes in on the angle, it fits snugly. I tried it with the tighter fit and it actually misformed the stove jack completely. Trail and error…

Where is your spark arrester?
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors2 күн бұрын
I only use it during the late spring/early fall season. Outside of that there’s no fire season and it clogs up really really fast. That limits the stove’s performance significantly

Sweep the snow out of the tent, please.
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors11 күн бұрын
When there’s a thick layer of snow down, I cover it with tree branches. We get an average of 14 feet of snow here each winter, so impossible to sweep/shovel it out as the winter season progresses.
