Watch My Big Chop! 4a/4b/4c Hair | 6 months Post Relaxer

In this video, I cut my hair/big chop my hair on camera! I woke up early last weekend and decided it was time to cut my off my damaged, relaxed hair and start fresh with my three inches of new growth that I've been patiently growing over the past 6 months!
I also share some tips for what helped me cut my hair off by myself.
Although I didn't talk about it in the video, I had one mirror and front of me and one 3 ft. long mirror behind me which helped me get see the difficult places in the back of my head.
I also used aloe vera gel on damp, freshly conditioner washed (co-washed) hair to make my new growth curly. This helped my cutting to be very accurate. I also used my continuous spray bottle to keep my hair damp during the process.

I had to do this twice from over bleaching my hair to the point it felt like string. I had cut it to neck length bob and it hurt so don’t be discouraged you did the right thing to get rid of the damaged hair. It’ll grow with time ❤️

lol you’re so funny!! I’m 4 months post and trying desperately to hang on to some relaxed ends. I chopped it to my neck, so it mostly newer relaxed ends that’s not so damaged.

Beautiful! ! I'll be big chopping next month which will be 6 months post as well. It will be my second time being natural but this time I won't be going back to relaxers. :)

Yes, I loved being natural first time around for about a little over a year but since I had been relaxed like my whole life, I missed the length and didn't know much hairstyles or things I know now that I didn't know than about natural hair or just about changing up my looks with wigs. Etc. But I am so excited this time around and yes your hair is beautiful. PLEASE make videos on your hair with wash and gos, or wash day, products, hairstyles, I would love that! ! Never perm long natural hair only super short ... I did it and my hair was so damaged but when I did it when it was super short didn’t have that problem btw u look beautiful

It can definitely be scary to cut it off, but it's very liberating! As long as you have a couple of inches of hair then you have options. I am sorry to hear that you used the same brand! I used box relaxers forever and never had this happen to me. Honestly, it was a blow to my pride to have to admit that I messed up a relaxer, after doing it successfully for so many years. @@JoyMorrisBeauty I can totally understand the liberation part of it. I had stopped using box relaxers almost 30 years ago. Once (,about 15yrs ago) I went on a whim and decided to try a box relaxer, I had heard such great things about it and it broke my hair off, so I never picked up a box relaxer since. It can be a blow to your pride, absolutely. I haven't relaxed my hair since April. I've been tempted to just to have someone relax it and have it pixie cut. Going natural would be such a drastic change for me, I always felt that being relaxed was easier for me to maintain. Sooner or later, I'll figure something out. In the meantime I will keep watching for your videos for inspiration🙂😃💜
