Watch Sara Bareilles and Broadway Waitress Cast Sing "Opening Up" on First Day of Rehearsal

The diner is returning to Broadway as Waitress comes into the Ethel Barrymore Theatre for a special engagement this fall. Leading the cast is composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles as Jenna, alongside a host of original cast members including Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter) and Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie). Here, on the first day of rehearsals for this new run (which begins September 2), Bareilles and the cast perform an emotional and jubilant "Opening Up."

Rehearsals are even more fun than public performance. I'm going to see her (and others) tonight perform at the Majestic Theater, at the Actors Fund Benefit that will also be the premier of Sammi Cannold's documentary "The Show Must Go On" about how Broadway's people dealt with the shutdown.

Seeing Sara and this cast perform Waitress in September 2021 when Broadway reopened was one of the huge thrills of my life. I also saw the show with Jessie Meuller when it opened initially in April 2016. Jessie is great but Sara is my 1st love as a musician and entertainer. I have total love for her, her talent and what she gives to the world. Please do more Sara.
