Credit to the OP: Raymond Carr ~ our wonderful puppetry director, for hunting out and sharing this footage. You can find him on Intsagram at @ theninjapuppet (you can find this info in the video description but I figured no one reads that x)

Seeing this makes me appreciate so much more the work that goes into professional puppetry. Three people need to work together to bring the character alive in this one shot and it must take tremendous concentration.

In japan they have insanely complex puppets that can take 3 or 4 people to operate together. They have to train for many years together, and they almost never change partners, and eventually they together bring to life these puppets with almost no effort and literally no signals or conversation. The old animatronics we used back in the Creature Workshop era were very similar, and sometimes required multiple operators just for the characters face itself, and yet when they work together, its so natural and normal. Its genuinely insane just what goes into puppetry and how much effort, or lack there of, that seems to be required by people who have been in the field for decades. Its like magic.

She's only moving one, the main puppeteer is moving the other. The fact that they are able to coordinate this is very impressive.

For those that dont know, the reason why the guy is looking dead on at the camera all serious looking, is because hes actually watching the little television which is a live recording of the puppetry. This is an old tactic that Jim Henson started which was what made puppetry that we know to day possible.
@cherylkirby91192 ай бұрын
Exactly what I thought of was the Muppets and Jim Henson! This is so 😎 I'm glad that I went back and found it pretty simple. Thank you for sharing this. It's nice to see how it's actually performed and filmed😊❤
