A flag that shows the colors, emblems or symbols of a state, country, or city is one thing. It represents all the people. A flag that is meant to validate sexual ideologies is completely different and unnecessary. No one needs to advertise their sexual proclivities be they homosexual or heterosexual; this is a personal and private area of life. People can still go about their business from day to day without wearing their sexuality on their shoulders for all to give them validation.

I spoke at this meeting. I spent hours in the hallway and had many conversations there. Haley (the woman in the yellow beret) was very vocal about her stance to have pride flags flown on city buildings. I was standing 5 feet away from her while we watched the television that was streaming speakers on the inside of the small room. When the man at 14:34 spoke, she started clapping. You can watch his statement, but I'll summarize by saying he was passionately against pride flags being flown by the city. I watched as she slowly looked around to see that none of her likeminded cohorts were clapping, she asked out loud: "wait...why am I clapping?" I couldn't keep my mouth shut and said, "Yeah I was wondering the same thing, why are you clapping? Is it because you're not listening?" She looked befuddled. Unfortunately, this was essentially the story for all of the Liberal-leaning attendees at this meeting. They came dressed up, relentlessly filmed videos and took selfies in the hallway, and not a single one I spoke to even knew that Proposal 2023-82 included ALL religious, political, and racial flags. I thought this brand of poorly researched, loud, obnoxious human only existed on TikTok. No. They are very much insufferably dense in real life. As someone who supports everyone's right to their own chosen identity and their sexual orientations, it was heartbreaking to see what the LGBTQ community has become. I am thrilled that our Mayor and Councilmen moved forward with this proposal. Only a bigot by the true definition would expect the flag representing their personal sexual orientation to be included in shared public spaces owned/operated by the city.
