Anthony Ray Hinton walked out of the Jefferson County Jail after thirty years on death row in Alabama. Hear what he has to say and watch the moment he is reunited with his family.

I just finished reading Anthony Ray Hinton Book . It was a very moving story and definitely is very convincing for the argument to end capital punishment. Ray you are one amazing man ! I pray that God blesses you.

"The Sun Does Shine" is a phenomenal book. It personalized just how long he was in. I'm 28 going on 29. He spent as long as I've been breathing in a 5x7 box. 5x7. The size of a standard disability bathroom stall is 5x5. He lived in a room barely larger than a toilet stall. In my state (Kansas) to be considered a bedroom for foster children it must have two means of exit (usually a window and a door), storage space (be it a dresser or a closet), and a minimum of 55 sqft laterally. 5' x 7' is only 35sqft. He spent my life time in a box we can't even legally put an infant in. I doubt Ray, the EJI, Brian Stevens, or Lester will ever see this but I want you all to know your trauma was worth it. You made sure this 28 year old white and native woman in Wichita Kansas understands just how bad racism was when my momma was my age. Not that long ago really. You are teaching the joy and defiance of imagination to those men and now many many millions through your book. That, you learned on your own, but it's a skill I as a preschool teacher and foster care worker teach for a career and cause. Your 30 years destroyed your life but it's gonna save so many souls. God Bless you Ray. P. S. this is the latest update from his Wikipedia page (accessed June 10, 2023 at 1:51pm cst) On May 8 2023, he gave a commencement speech [20] and was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Emory University.

What a great man. To be this composed after some entitled prosecutors and detectives robbed him of 30 years of his life....... This puts other troubles or problems in perspective. All the best to you. That state/county better start writing a check to you.

to be clear Mr. Hinton didn't say it was Gods fAULT. HE correctly said the dirty two bits that did this intentionally will have to answer.

Bin Dardundat Yeah... Then he can get right back to robbing liquor stores and committing new burglaries. Just to keep active in his previous profession, you know. That should make you loony liberals happy. Because the failed phoney idealism of "we shall overcome" must always remain first and foremost. No matter how many innocent whites they kill.

You need to do your research. It was an all white jury The Judge was white and the prosecutor was white. And we're talking about Alabama. Please!

God bless this wonderful and innocent man, his persecutors from the wicked cop to the racist jury to the bigoted and racist judges, they all will pay for what they have done, each in their own malevolent way!
