I noticed the ending in which the Spielberg "WotW" remake is shown and Hamill's closing narration was clipped off the "Forbidden Planet" DVD and replaced with the final two minutes of the film.

Yeah , If anything the original book by Wells was an inspiration for the Holocaust as it was it self was a commentary by Wells on British Empire building where They had an "Exterminate the Brutes" policy on indigenous peoples if not always by physical murder but to murder their culture and put their own in place. The Europe and US and pretty much any dominant civilization or Religion in mankind's history has tried that. That book in my opinion is one of the most profound ever written.

Spielberg's remake of War of the worlds was good...except for the whole thing with the walkers buried underground and the aliens beaming down. Wtf. That made no sense whatsoever. I did like the movie overall...but I wish he had gone the other way and did the book: pre WW1 in London. Steampunk aliens? Yeah.
