Watching from Vancouver Canada. I'm liking how artist grade looks

😆 the pigment in those is great and I love the flow of them too, they are pricey though. I’ll do a video on how to make your own watercolor at some stage in the future as well.

I'm watching from Australia. That looks like a nice watercolour set for having fun making cards or similar. The brushes look wonderful, and the swatch book looks extremely useful! 😀🎨

I've been painting for many years and had no idea there were special, dedicated books for swatching 😂

I:m watching from England. I love the look of the Lightwish set, it is perfect for someone starting out in watercolour x
@LeilaAtayaАй бұрын
Absolutely, if you are thinking of getting into watercolour or even painting in general it's a good set as it includes everything you'll need paper , basic sketching materials, brushes and paint. 😊
@lainehadlow7751Ай бұрын
It is a very affordable price too 😊😊
@LeilaAtayaАй бұрын
@@lainehadlow7751 That's another reason for it being very beginner friendly. If you are already using student grade however and what something of a higher quality then go for the artist grade paint 😊
@lainehadlow7751Ай бұрын
@@LeilaAtaya I do use artist's grade paints myself but I also do a little one-on-one teaching, as this would set be perfect 😃

Hi from Canada 🇨🇦 Leila (originally from Holland)…I am just starting out and love how you showed the differences between student grade and artist grade. I have two sets of student grade paints (one being Winsor Newton student grade) and want to practice a lot more before graduating to the more expensive stuff. My sets are in tubes so I am very tempted to get this set to play with these dry solid colours, also I do not have the metallic colours and recently saw a beautiful way of using them in someone else’s video…thank you for this experiment you shared with everyone. ❤
@LeilaAtayaАй бұрын
Hi 😊 if you already have W&N student grade these paints will not impress you but you do get shimmery range and really nice brushes too ;) if you are wondering about tubes vs pans I have a video on this subject so watch it before getting anything new so that you can make up your mind and not overspend kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2nLqaSnr99rfcU

@@LeilaAtaya I also like the idea of comparing the different colours and saturations to practice how to get the various effects…this video was very helpful, and I do look forward to seeing how I like the brushes. Thank you for the quick reply. ❤️🙏

@@LilyAmongThorns Let me know what you'll think of them :)

@@LeilaAtaya I do think they are a little bit better in pigmentation than my student grade Winsor and Newtons and enjoy playing a bit with the metallics and enjoy the many colours available….as I said, I’m still a newbie so I want to practice drawing and the different strokes, etc, before going to the more expensive stuff, which I am sure will make a big difference in how I will paint once I get to that level. But for now I think these are great for getting me there while I practice. Thank you for your videos. ❤️🙏 May Jesus bless your life 🙏

I think the tendency of the pro paint to cauliflower could possibly be a combination of the heavy pigment load and the cheap sizing of the paper. I’d be interested to see if you prepared the paper first by wetting it and letting it dry it would yield better results. But who would want to do that for every page in a swatch book? Not me. Paper matters 😘
@LeilaAtayaАй бұрын
Yes exactly that 😆plus I just opened the swatch book and went for it. Whenever I actually work on a watercolour painting I elevate it slightly to give paint direction and reduce the blooming effect. In this video I only focused on comparing the two paints so I figured as long as the conditions are the same it's fair 😊 I personally like the flow that artist grade can create but anyone starting out with w/c may not agree with me and find it hard to control the paint that's why student grade can work well for beginners.

Hi, I‘m watching from Germany. My Question about this colours is: are there really any Pigments in? Most of the low budget colours are only made with dyes. There is no Lightfastnes at all and on top, they reacts with O2 and will fade out. Iff there no Pigmentinformation, it doesn’t have Pigments in it.
@LeilaAtayaАй бұрын
Yes there is no lightfastness information at all or any hint of them being UV resistant. I do mention it in the video, I actually dedicate few minutes to explain that there should be no expectation for this paint to last and stay true to it's colour if you are planing to create work that you wish to frame or gift etc you would need to get more expensive and higher quality artist grade paint. This one is perfect as a first set or school work etc. And if you already have a set of student paint and want better quality I would suggest getting artist grade from a well known brand like the ones I compare in the video 😊
