Let's talk about important checks to do before buying a 105 series Landcruiser! In this video I will cover some really quick and easy things to look for before you make that purchase. We will cover engine checks, things to look for on the car body, and some driveline nasties to watch!
The 105 series is a fantastic car, and call me bias, but they are my favourite Landcruiser. But like with any car, there are things that need attention or regular maintenance. Find out WHAT in this video!

Thank you! Definitely no plans to get rid of this cruiser anytime soon so it’ll be interesting to see how many k’s I can get on it. @@WillsLandcruiser Long backstory incoming My Dad had a grey import (Aussie spec 105, it was basically like a work mate) . Vinyl interior, barn doors, three seats in the front (very strange) and no lockers (were we live twin locked is the default spec with carpet interior), the car did have a fair bit of kit on it and a dodgy turbo setup. From what I was told, it looked like someone did it in their garage and not very well. This was around 2012, I was 10 years old. At the time my dad didn't know much about Cruisers and I was still a Land Rover fan at the time (2012-2015). So back then I wasn't so interested in the car, but I still thought it was cool. Now I am a bit of a Cruiser nut, and know a lot more about them than what I did about Land Rovers. Still like an old Land Rover, but not a big fan anymore. Unfortunately we only had the 105 for two weeks and in that time there was a lot of elbow grease involved. (cleaning, for what my Dad told me, it was not unlikely that there was Outback dust still in the car.) He cleaned the speedo cluster (very dusty) and I remember late night we were cleaning the cargo area, it had something in the back that reminded us of fish and chips oil that was stuck on the metal under the vinyl.) Being an import it was listed as 2006 100 series and it was priced like a late model 1HD-FTE Cruiser. After the car went for a service at a local Cruiser specialist we were told it's a very unique 105 and that it's a Aussie import. We also discovered it was a 1998 model. So the car was returned and the secondhand dealership didn't know much about the car either. A while later whe got a basically brand new 2010 HZJ76 Land Cruiser with 30 000km for AUD $11 360 more than the 105. Car still had a warranty and was extended for not too much. (Total price in 2012 (current exchange rate) = AUD $30 517) I think a new one would have cost like AUD$39 236, unsure on that one, but that was the price around then when you could still get the 1HZ 76, stopped in 2013 (2007-2013). At the time it was a pretty good deal and now years later it's a lot less than worn-in secondhand Cruisers. We still have the car and this morning it clocked 149 009km. So pretty much a baby for a 1HZ. I am very greatful for my Dad because I get to daily the car, which is very nice. It's a dream of mine to buy the car from my dad since it's in such good condition and he does not want to let it go. So it will be kept in the family, and wil be well looked after. Currently I do a lot of the maintenance stuff on it and modifications. Also keep an eye on rust because we live 15km from the coast.

@@madcat4563 that’s such a cool story!! Always good to hear a converted cruiser fan 😎😂 So where in the world are you? If you don’t mind me asking?? You’re a regular commenter and I just assumed you were Aussie! The 76 series would have to be my second favourite cruiser. I just LOVE the shape of them… but the comfort factor will unfortunately never be quite as good as the 105 series! Definitely keep an eye on that rust. Regular washes finished with a rainwater rinse, a regular cut and polish, keep it in the shed, can’t go wrong!

@@WillsLandcruiser Hi, Will I am from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been subscribed since the first video you did on a JB turbo. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3qbe2CombCod68 Yes the 80 and 105 beats the 70 series due to coils all round and being a more comfort oriented Cruiser. I should really clean the car more often, but I did clean it after I did a muddy gravel track in the rain at the start of the year. Cleaned the underside and engine bay as well as the outside 😉. Project for the upcoming December holiday is to remove the cover at the bottom of the front window. The 76 had a parking spit underneath a tree for about 2 years or so and twigs in stuff went in everywhere. (Very bad idea to park there) Car currently sits underneath shade cloth and the tree has been cut down to size. The car does not fit in the garage, even without the roof rack (stock suspension). I have already removed a fist full of compacted leaves and twigs that was in both of the front vender guards behind the front wheels, it has like a bowl shape and the stuff gets collected there. Where the bonnet hinges are I cleaned out as best I could with a tooth brush, got a lot of junk out of there. But I just need to finish this current semesters tests and get Lanolin spray and I will get to work on that firewall section. I saw on Jordin's Troopy build (from shed built on KZbin), that that is a prime rust spot for 70 series Cruisers. As always enjoy your content, was fun chatting with you.

@WillsLandcruiser Жыл бұрын
You are welcome to message me on Instagram or Facebook or even send me an email if you’d like to chat. I’m by no means an expert or even a qualified mechanic, but I’d be happy to have a chat! The price of an 80/105/100 series can vary so much depending on condition, km on the clock, mods, engine. For instance I’d expect to pay $12k-$18k for a 1HZ 105 series but for an FTE 100 series it’d be more like $20k-$30k depending on all of those factors. Have a browse of what’s selling online and see if you can work out an average price yourself. Everything is a bit more expensive than normal at the moment because it’s so hard to get new cars due to electronics/silicone shortages
