Also don't forget, if you are getting winter tires, Those are mostly and often used seasonally, which means the tire was sitting in storage 8 months out of a year, so even if it's an older tire, it is usually still good and has no cracks, so the DOT date is mostly for tires that are being used all year around. Tire shops are quick to tell you that you'd need new tires when they see dates, even tho it's a perfectly good tire, but has an older DOT. In reality they just want to sell you new tires. Many folks cannot afford new tires. That is is why you have to look closer and see small cracks, which means the tire was exposed to the elements, like the Sun. Tread depth and even wear are the most important IMO.

From WC, sometimes you have 1 tire go bad, you can’t afford a new one, but if you are lucky enough to have a job where you travel a lot, it may take weeks and looking at a lot of used tire dealers you will eventually find the match to your other 3 tires, and save a bunch of money!

Excellent video on shopping for used tires, thank you. At this point I'm thinking that it is a lot of effort to find high quality used tires, and not worth the savings over new tires. Besides, used tires are cheaper than new because they have less life to them.

I’m looking to start business with tires 8 months ago I was back to my country and I see a lot of people were interested about that business and right I heard like many places are running out tires, and I really don’t know how to start it or where to get them here in New York, USA. If y’all could give any advice.

Sure all of those things can affect the slightest angle of the alignment of the vehicle and eventually cause uneven wear. Thanks for sharing

Why doesn’t America just use millimetres to measure tire depth? So much easier
@robertkelly97722 ай бұрын
Because you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Is there a difference between radial and non radial? for example, ive seen tires of the same size look much different side by side. 225/55r17 is that different from 225/55/17?

how about the tires on my car that has always been staying on my backyard for 10months every year because my wife dont know how to drive so she just run the engine every 2weeks, and i hardly used during the 2 months i am at home. my car now is 9yrs, yet my odometer is only 13thousand. is it still safe? though it doest have cracks yet.
@talkingmods2 жыл бұрын
Adrian, I am pretty sure if they've been out in the element for that long(9 years) then it's time to get some new ones for your safety or anyone else that might drive the vehicle.

Decent tread and read the dots I run used tires all the time and put them on other people cars no probs Don’t be over 4-5 years old not cracked to shit and have at least 4/32 trea

Edit, in my state 2/32 actually passes inspection soooo pay little to no money for a tire between 2-4/32

I’d never put used tire on a road going car, bike, or even my bicycle. The risk is not worth the saving by any stretch. There’re some brand new $45 tires, and they are safer than any $300 used tire.
@talkingmods3 жыл бұрын
Nir, first off thanks for watching, and yes I always recommend new tires, but that's not the case for everyone and while we only sell new tires, I did want to make a guide for those who sometimes are in a situation to purchase used tires, or can even evaluate their own tires. I am not advocating buying used tires but rather people be safe out there.
@Baerchenization3 жыл бұрын
Did you ever buy a used car? Yes, you did. And then you did not put on new tyres first thing in the morning. So you are completely comfortable driving used tyres.
@nintense13 жыл бұрын
@@Baerchenization easier to inspect installed tires, than something that sitting in someone’s garage. I actually replaced the tires on any cars I had if the date code was more than 4 years.

Walk/ Use public transportation. I don't see any problem to buy a couple years old good condition tires, but buying a 6 years old "mint" condition is a public hazard.@@donevans6578
