The real issue here is the consumer. Increase in demand in the fast fashion industry, with consumption reaching an all time high and trends coming in and out every week means that big companies eg zaful, H&M, forever21 etc want to produce their products cheaper and cheaper and hereby put pressure on the factory owners in countries such as Bangladesh to produce items on a lower and lower budget. This of course impacts the clothing quality dramatically, but more concerning is the comprimises in the safety and welfare of the people who make the garments which are made in order to reduce the cost. The Rana Plaza disaster in 2013 saw the collapse of a big factory which was producing clothes for big western fast fashion companies such as h&m and primark, and resulted in the deaths of over 1,000 people. Workers had expressed concerns leading up to the disaster regarding the condition of the building as large cracks had appeared in the walls, but on the tight budget, the cruel bosses who were paying them the most miniscule wages shut them up and forced them back into the building. Many of them never made it outside again. The fast fashion industry is in the top three most polluting industries on earth. It's time to boycott the fashion industry and hyper consumption, invest in quality from sustainable fashion brands instead of buying endless cheap pieces, buy more second hand and ask WHO MADE MY CLOTHES?

So great. I love what you offer this platform. I find your advice to be grounded in experience rather than your opinion alone. I think you stand out in the crowd of you tubers. Sometimes I feel as though videos focus on just consuming and encouraging consumption to benefit the channel, rather than sound advice. I don’t buy from any of these sellers but found your advice universal for any online shopping. Thank you so much!

I've often wondered if they have taken pictures of better quality items but didn't send out things that looks similar but that they've made a lot more cheaply - if that makes sense.....sort of the way the replica things are done. Great vid Amy. Really helpful. Thx..xo, Sue
@AmySerranox7 жыл бұрын
Susan Schafer omg def this happens! online retailers direct from China sometimes take images from other more expensive retailers like free people or even bloggers when they make réplicas to sell. Beware of those. They come to you súper janky and it’s a popular video here KZbin ordering from wish etc. Super shady If you ask me. A dress should NOT cost 7dollars. Stay away from those 😘😘😘

I loved the video! I totally agree with the cheap online shops. Totally not worth it for me. When I order something I always have to return it because it has a bad fit or aweful materials. I prefer to go and shop into the stores. I love Zara and I think the stuff is good quality.

Yes a acrylic-cotton knit looks good, but they feel horrible and they won’t last! Acrylic is basically just spun plastic and the second you wash it, it loses it’s luster and airiness. I despise acrylic and all synthetic. Buy quality pieces for a little more cash and you’ll see the benefits. And check out the book: to die for by lucy siegel. 😊
@AmySerranox7 жыл бұрын
yes totally. its always better to get acrylic as a blend. 100 percent synthetic fibers aren't reliable. But you'll be surprised at how many midrange retailers use acrylic as well. I see it in labels Revolve carries quite a bit. Thanks for the book rec
@daniel_is_messy7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for responding Amy! Cos and &other stories do great wool pieces (just check the materials!) , but I think it's important especially where I live (Finland) to shell out on quality. I basically live in cashmere for 8-10 months out of the year! I think in California your weather isn't as extreme? 🤔😁
