I've tried using biochar in the past and honestly I couldn't tell any difference in my results so I discontinued using, I wouldn't be surprised if it is helpful in poorer soils but mine certainly isn't poor, I have very biologically active soil and that's probably why I didn't notice any benefit. Thanks! (Just to be safe, I removed your post that had purchase/ transaction info :) I found it on Amazon. Yes, most - if not all - of the wooden sifters on Amazon look cheaply made. The mesh/grate should be actually fastened to the frame and under tension to strengthen the frame and hold it together. Do you prefer tall frame sides like you bought, or shorter frame sides like we use in our videos?

What fertilizer did you use for the germination on pepper plants? The one you did for us a few videos back? I put my bell pepper plants in full sun and the sun made them wilt and die. I since have germinated more and put them under a shade cloth and they seem to be doing a heck of a lot better.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
We used the seed starting soil mix on our peppers during the germination stage. Either of our seed starting soil mix videos have a recipe you can use. Hardening off is c=necessary for most plants - looks like you missed that and burned your peppers.😬 Blessings!

We have a patio with clear roof I had them outside for like 2 weeks, took them out for a few hours brought them back in, then got up to a day then a couple days ect…they seemed fine so when the nice sunny weather came I planted them. What would a normal hardening off be like?
@kenkerr70488 ай бұрын
Wait wait wait. Actually now that I think about it. They were extras that I didn’t harden off. I planted the ones I wanted in bags and some had two together in one cup so I had to leave them and separated them later. So yea you are correct I didn’t harden them off may have been some shock as well. But I’d still like to know what you would do for a hardened off process.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
I actually don't harden them off because they come from the greenhouse and they don't need hardening off. But if I were to harden them off it's just a matter of putting them in sunshine for an hr the first day and then 2 hrs the next day and then 4 hrs the next day then plant them😁

I have two rows of Yukon potatoes already growing and was wondering if I could plant a row of peppers and how far away from the potatoes should they be planted
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
I'd plant peppers at least 3 feet away unless you have a way to keep your potatoes from falling over,peppers need a lot of sun and heat,I'm afraid the potatoes will block some of the sun and heat if they're very close together.

@corinne71268 ай бұрын
A soil test should be done on your soil first. You really donot need that many additives.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
I've never done a soil test and I've grown more world record tomatoes and eggplant than anyone else has ever grown so I think that is proof of what I'm doing,I've learned in the 50+ yrs of growing how to read the plants health and adjust the amendments accordingly, I'm not trying to brag I'm just stating the facts. You certainly don't have to do what I'm doing and you can certainly grow nice tomatoes another way but I like to grow nutrient dense food knowing that it has all the minerals to keep us well,if your soil doesn't have all the minerals in it neither will your produce! It may seem like a lot of amendments but remember most of it is compost. Have a blessed day!
@jesusisGod14348 ай бұрын
I love your videos but if I have to buy all those amendments it gets spendy. If you tally up all the amendments on your list in the description it’s way over $500 Maybe your idea of not expensive is $500 but for someone with not much of a budget that is a lot. If anyone wants to financially support my garden please send money. The Tilther alone is $600.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
That's why we are starting up an online store to sell amendments. We aim to provide better amendments at cheaper prices and in the quantity you need. Of course you can put less quantity on your beds than what we show and still get better results than nothing, that's for sure!
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork8 ай бұрын
Not sure how you came up with 500.00 for amendments, but I'll assure you that isn't correct! Most of what is put on is compost which cost 2.25 per cubic foot,the rest of the amendments cost about 5.00 so 7.25 to amend 120 square ft I believe is very reasonable. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!
