you re right service sector makes up 80% of exports for indian gdp but it has only 4.5 - 5 million people compared to 450million of workfore only , and majority of it has IT-ITES or Bpo sector jobs ,and makes up 50% of formal workforce , and only 10% of india workforce is formal workforce ,and 90% of private jobs dont pay enough even adjusted to inflation only a minimal package , aur jo tum bolte ho na 10-20 lakh ka package laga woh sab outliers hote hai , and majority of us even dont want to work in IT sector its only for our survival.

But for a low middle-class person government job is like a lottery, for a good-paying IT job you need to invest a lot in a better degree, skills etc. and even then the starting salary is very low, most of the IT professionals are working at starting salary of between 15-30K and only 2-5% are earning the 1lakh salary. With SSC like option, one can earn 70K at a starting salary in group B posts with added respect and job security.
