Very interesting! 600k for a family of 6 in Nigeria isn't so much of a comfortable life especially if the four children are in secondary school where tuition fee is 500k per term for a child. 600k is about £800 in the UK which you can earn in 2wks or less (some small jobs) and 2-3days (big boys jobs) in the UK. My suggestion: if you are coming to the UK,plan as a couple that one of you will study a course that makes it easy to get a job that offers sponsorship like software programming,Nursing, Education, healthcare, social care and then the other can get a professional job like Business analyst,Accounting,Law, project management. The first pays less but offers sponsorship but the other pays big. The combination of the two is a bomb for the family with free schooling for the four kids all through high school and free/cheap school accessories. The first few years can be challenging but I think it's worth it. Above all,it's always a personal decision.

Thank you for the suggestions. My hubby earns a little above 700k yet we live an average life and live in the cheap part of Lagos. The children's school fee is even less than 150k (2) kids. Yet there are a lot of uncertainties.

I am an English woman and watch many video`s like yours. So many people from Nigeria have platforms like yours, I watch them a lot. Your videos are one of the few that tell the truth. So many paint a wrong picture about how easy things are here. They are not. Listen to this young man, he tells many true things.

What is it about your kids that make you think your move to UK is about them? Is it the education they get in UK or the medicals or the future job prospects or the UK passports? Cause I am not sure why people keep saying it is about the kids..At the end of the day, UK goes back to Nigeria to recruit engineers and doctors and nurses etc even when a lot of Nigerians move to UK with their kids..Don’t those kids ever grow up to become doctors and engineers and nurses etc? I’m confused

Truth is for family of 6, it's not going to be easy oh . Even if both husband and wife are working . They will end up living from hand to mouth. It is easier for a family of 3( much easier if you have a child above 5 that can go to school while both of you work). Except you are going through work Visa.

But seriously I believe people have the right to make their decisions. And I also strongly believe that everyone has a different journey in life . What works for Mr A , Might not work for Mr B . So vice versa , my aunties who relocated then to the US and Uk , complained and never returned back to Nigeria , while securing a better future for their kids , who are now doing exceptionally great in their choice of course. My Aunt’s are in their late 50’s and never came back to Nigeria. And people should stop discouraging others if they intend to embark on the pursuit , what did not work for you with ease, will work for others seemlessly .And moreover we are not going to live forever, so whether you do it or not , life still goes on and opportunity not taken advantage of can never be recovered . People keep saying when your kids are 15years move to the Uk with them, it is worthy of note that those kids will grow up and integrate into the system and have their own kids there . So what the point exactly . Please do you and focus on yourself and your family . No one is going to give you a penny to meet your responsibilities. Nigeria is already very hard and nothing is certain in this country , a system that doesn’t work and has no empathy or plans for its immediate citizen…… Please spread your wings and fly if you have to . Nothing good comes easy 😎😎

Nice thoughts... Thanks for bearing it... Nobody seems generalizing here Views mostly are based on experiences with well laid out reasons like one's level of comfort..which I alluded to in my own based on my own personal experience.. The choices are for all to make depending on status in this society...and never a wholesale trend approach..." Different strokes for different folks" is the variety of life at every turn... That isn't off the table... The choices are always personal..

looking at the current state of the country, I think relocating to a system that works gives more satisfaction and hope. at least, the children will have better hope. Remember, no amount of inflows is worth life. so far as Nigeria is still struggling with insecurity, anyone's head can be chopped off the neck anytime and no one including the government cares. My personal submission is that, it's better to be a cleaner in the UK and give hope to ur dear children than to be a central bank staff member who is living in fear everyday.

Where will the savings come from with someone earning 600k which is equivalent of 800 pound a month. Where will the savings come from. Even his gratuity won't be able to afford that for any of his kids. The best advise is to be a man. Quit the job, relocate and start all over while securing future for the kids. Meanwhile, as the parent secure the future for the kids, their old age are also secured.

For someone who works remotely and earns £5K(no tax bro!) a month with an option of relocating and earning £7k. Here in Nigeria, I live in a comfortable 3 bedrooms apartment, drive a good car, can save up to £3k every month, and can still afford soft life in Lagos. I will like to know if I can be able to afford the same soft life in the UK with 7K gross salary and still be able to save up to 3k without suffering myself and not being able to drink and chop life as usual.

Hello Lucky, You’ve got a good job and it’s great you have an option to relocate to the UK…. Earning £5K in Nigeria, you will live more comfortably than earning £7k in the UK 🇬🇧 However, for the sake of family (Kids especially), security, assess to healthcare facilities and many more……. You might want to consider relocating to the UK My Opinion though

Even people that earn 1million net pay and husband earns 1m monthly moved to Canada on Study route. 600k is nothing because naira is low in value. Now that her study is over .. the lady is earning more in canadian dollars and better education and citizenship for her and her family. It's more about planning and knowing what you want. Naira depreciates so fast. But that four kids I hope they are above 5years because chil care no be beans

Well, as titled, this is uncommon opinion because people generally don't like to hear the other side of the reality abroad until they finally get there and reality set in. Sadly, most diasporas fake it for those back home by taking pics with the winter jacket looking so fresh... lol. Statistically, many people doing well back home without research had blindly relocated and living to regret their actions forever. To be very honest, remember you are starting all over again and there is no guarantee that you will get a professional jobs you were doing in Nigeria when you arrive, it can only happen by persistency and by God's grace. Even if you eventually get a tier 2 visa sponsorship, a family of 5 will pay not less than £16k for visa switch (company's sponsorship does not mean they will pay for your visa, most don't. You only get CoS). The UK is really expensive, no episode... tax and bills (irrespective of the job you get, the system levels you up, you earn more, you pay more tax). Another challenge is raising kids. Many people say they want to japa because of the kids' future. When they eventually get locked into the system, they will hardly have the time to properly take care of the kids (Dad does night shift, mum does days shift; both always tired when they return... lol). People also says it's because of stable electricity, good governance and security they will enjoy..., without writing any episode about these, they are just illusion of inclusion. Yes, many people will say if UK doesn't work for you while not go back to Naija. The truth is that many diasporas don't even have the savings to return home (some don't even have ordinary flight ticket in their bank account). Statistically, black community generally are at the bottom of the pyramid (I do not mean we don't have people doing well but I mean by considering the larger proportion of the black community). Finally. my humble advice is to have your strategic plans before your relocation. Be sure you will get it right. Make sure you have the skills, experiences and the certifications that will land you that job. Don't relocate at old age, you may not find it easy. I wish you all aspiring japa people the very best in your quest for a better life.

Funny how everybody talks about how it is important a to go to UK/US to give your children a better future but when you go to the hospitals, you find out most of the doctors and nurses are foreign-trained? Go to most companies and most of the engineers are foreign-trained..So where are those that were sent to the UK/US as kids to secure their future? People say that Nigeria is shitty and all that but UK still comes to Nigeria to recruit doctors and engineers trained in shitty schools in Nigeria..Why? Why isn’t UK training her citizens and immigrants to become doctors, nurses and engineers?
