Hi Olwe. Firstly, thank you for your informative videos truly appreciate your work! So I have a question, I’ve registered for my third year this year with UNISA, and I was hoping to transfer to another university or any other university( only if they’d credit me for my modules) so I came through this other institution( SOUTH AFRICAN COLLEGE OF APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY ) and apparently it’s rated number 1 with psychology degrees in South Africa. So I was wondering if you have any information regarding the institution and if you’d recommend it to any of your viewers ? I’d really appreciate your response. Thank you. ♥️

Hello😊 this was really helpful. Do you perhaps know how they calculate the final percentage for you to actually go through with an honors degree??? Thank you...
@olwethungodela3 жыл бұрын
Hey 💕 Uhm, As far as I know, you just have to calculate the average of all your modules. So add all the percentages and then divide that by the number of modules to get your total percentage. So e.g. let’s say in total, you have 600 in total, divide that 600 by the no. of modules (e.g. 8) then your percentage will be 75%. Hope that makes sense. Also I’m not 100% sure if this is correct 🙈

Hii there, thank you for this, please clarify whether the required average changes each year? Would you suggest taking up extra curricular programs within the university or just keep to volunteering?

This is probably one of thee most frustrating careers to get into in South Africa. People need to make sure that they never stop at Honours too. Just go straight through to MA. Think 7 years and forget the Psychometrist and Registered Counsellor lie. The ANC government complete squandered that.

You can definitely become a psychologist starting with a BA in psych then you do your BA honours in psych afterwards. You can then only specialise in clinical psych or counselling psych in Masters.

@olwethungodela3 жыл бұрын
Hey! So you can definitely apply for a masters programme with a B Psych. But you need to complete your masters and community service and then be registered with the HPCSA (you write a board exam) and only then you can be a registered psychologist. But you can become a registered counselor with a B Psych degree. I’d recommend doing a B Psych instead so you have more options

Hi James. If you want to pursue a career in psych, then I would personally suggest volunteering in the mental health care space (e.g. SADAG) but Please check out this website for a wide range of options throughout SA: cognitionandco.co.za/volunteering/

New Subscriber Loving your channel. What are other options you have if you don't meet the requirements in order to be considered for Honours. What can you do at the moment if you have a bachelors degree in Psych?
@olwethungodela3 жыл бұрын
Hi Boohle, thank you so much, welcome ❤🙌! That's a really good question. If you still want to pursue a career in psychology then I would suggest you try apply for a BPsych equivalent instead (To become a registered counsellor) or go into PCGE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) or even try the HR route. Also, check out "The Star Academy", they usually hire psychology students or graduates to work as a junior instructor for children diagnosed with autism (so it's like behaviour therapy). Doing a TEFL as well could also be an option to teach English online or abroad. Volunteering is also a good option and it could boost your application as well.

@@baldwin5510 I'm a bit late, but you can also apply for clinical psychology and do your community service/internship under someone who can train you in Neuro. Before Neuro became a registered category, people would do clinical then do additional training in Neuro with others in the field to become a clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology.
