Super Glide Dynas are a good bike to transition into especially the ones with mid controls. Rode standards and sport bikes for years and don’t care about riding the fastest bike anymore. Enjoy just cruising and taking in a relaxing ride. Nice take on riding a Dyna

I just took a 2012 Super Glide for a test ride, I really liked it... but it just didn't have the braking power you get on modern bikes. Maybe it had new pads installed and they need to be broken in (this has happened to me) but for now it's a no.

Great bike, thought was pretty quick, it was neck and neck with all my buddys bikes with the 103ci. Put some s&s 583 cams in there with the gear drive with 23,000 miles. It now runs like a striped ass ape. Very fast and very fun to ride. Great torque through all 6 gears. If anyone is thinking about getting a dyna with a 96. DO IT!

I have been torn on putting forward controls on it but I live in Ohio on the West Virginia border and there have been times I've topped a hill and all of a sudden the road goes from asphalt to big gravel from where the road slipped and it was fixed temporarily. Needless to say being able to stand on the mid pegs in thosr situations have come in handy. I recently put an Andrew's tw37 cams and screaming eagle carb kit, new pipes etc on her and she came alive. Good review. I own a 2013, it's a great bike. To me it is like the stripped down Harleys of the sixties. Times have changed, today people want big bikes, but back then we wanted sleek custom creations and this is similar to what we used to build. We would not have been caught dead riding a bagger. But I have to admit that the bigger bikes are more comfortable on long rides.

I was originally all about forward controls. I'm 6'1", so I always just assumed that "over 6 foot, go forward" based on what everyone basically said and did. A buddy let me borrow is 06 FXD, and it was set up with Mids. I actually ended feeling more comfortable and stable in town and on crappy stretches of pavement, it's still nice to be able to stretch out on those long rides, but I'm a FT mid dude now though.
@captainamerica93533 жыл бұрын
k s , I'm surprised forward controls are even legal, along with ape hangers. Forward controls, low seats, and high bars put you in the wrong position for decent handling and braking. There's a reason they make highway pegs - they're a nice option for being on the open road, otherwise you have the mids for around town and short rides. Enjoy.
@joeg44382 жыл бұрын
I am 6ft1 and always looked at guys with mid controls as beginners not yet good enough to ride with forwards. Bought my bike slightly used with 1000 miles and had forwards - and it was comfortable but I decided to switch to mids and I love them, like the choice of mid or stretch out to forward travel pegs.
@toddwillard8927 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been riding since 1970. Can’t put a number on all the bikes I’ve owned. For me, forward controls suck. The worst for handling. Agree with the other comments, forward pegs nice to stretch out on but that’s it. Poser forward controls.

A Dyna is the perfect beginner bike. They're affordable, durable, light and powerful but not overtly powerful. They have the comfort of a cruiser and the nimbleness of a sport bike. Get a Dyna with mid controls and highway pegs and put some 12 inch t bars on them for better control and comfort. You can buy any Dyna but stay away from 2006's because they have transmission issues. If you're big on canyon carving, riding low in the turns and hitting the twisties, I'd recommend you stay away from switchbacks and wide glides. Lowriders are good bikes but their wider rake doesn't give them the ability to handle as well as super glides and street bobs. The difference is minimal but noticeable. If you're considering buying a dyna with an Evo, just fork out the extra grand and get an FXR. Same engine but on the lighter and stiffer frame it handles and accelerates a lot better.
@MattCassCook3 жыл бұрын
They are too powerful for a first bike imo. For someone who doesn’t know what they are doing, the torque can get them into some serious trouble.

Highway PEGS are fine (I downshift and brake with my heels if needed) but mid controls do not let the rider lift themselves off the seat when surmounting bumps (or suicidal critters). Dyna mid control parts can also be used to mount mids where they never existed (drill and tap a square block, align, then weld from the bottom there being no functional reason to weld the top which can be joined if the bike is ever torn down for paint).

I grew up riding the rice burners. And when I got my driver's license I got a KZ 900. Loved that bike. Always loved the sound of the Harley. Looking to get a Super glide for sure. Thanks for your video. Have to ask. Why the scripture. ? 👍

Round abouts and Fosters beer. Should’ve left them where they came from. Might be getting me a 2007 super glide with 5800 miles for under 9000$$. Nice video bro.

I do own this bike and generally i love it. I do like the chrome on this bike and the custom parts that it has compared to the fat bob for instance. I could not stand the pedals in the middle because i'm tall and need room for the legs, so i mounted the pedals in the front. Had problems in the beginning with the spokes as they became loose and the bike started to wobble. The bike is not suited for long tours because when you ride on the highway the wind blows you off the seat with a speed above 110km/h. You have cooler sounding exhausts. The originals are uncool. The cool sounding ones are all illegal here except J&H and they are hell of expensive. I had an issue with the back suspension. I drove a bad road at 80km/h and there was a hump on the road. The suspension came to it's limit and the back wheel got a hit. After that i had the rim deformed and needed to repair it. Since then i changed my back suspension to progressive suspension and never had issues with this anymore. Although i would want a larger bike now, i love this one and will not ever want to part from it.

Rode my 883 cross country 3 times. The bike doesn't make the man. I would challenge any big bad biker to a Canonball Run any day.
