Go racetech up front! My top 5 upgrades are all reliability, safety, and performance oriented. 1) dual disk brake conversion ( or upgrading rotors if you have an fxdls ) 2) s&s cam plate, oil pump, and gear driven cam conversion. (Eliminates the only week point in the bottom end for most applications, the cam chain tensioner) 3) dynojet power vision unit (best tuner out there, and doubles as a digital speedo / tach when mounted on your bars. 4) custom cycle engineering front are rear motor mounts / stabilizer + top stabilizer link 5) suspension, rear first or both ends at the same time if possible

Hedonist - I’m leaning towards nix 22s I’m sure race tech is probably cheaper do u have any other reason to go with race tech over ohlins??
@Tecton4205 жыл бұрын
@@dynademos shiiit you're going to ballin route. The only thing racetech produces that will match or outperform the nix 22 is their g6 forks (inverted, full custom built to your spec after you order) it would basically be a one time purchase for your front end to be dialed in completely. But there's no comparison to the potential performance of the nix 22s and racetechs springs / gold valve emulator, ohlins takes that all day.
@Tecton4205 жыл бұрын
@@dynademos you know rwd is coming out with a cartridge kit of their own too right ? It might be ocd but I always prefer to keep front and rear suspension from the same manufacturer if possible. Hedonist - I was aware about rwd, rod has rwd in the rear but I’m thinking ohlins all the way around after listening to Kevin from big bear performance talking about it on a podcast I trust his opinion and I think u can get ohlins all the way around for around 2 gs inverted is obviously the best but I ain’t spending that much lol

@@dynademos yeah it's not a bad idea at all. Ohlins has such a great lineage and history, I'd trust nearly anything from them without question honestly. I can't say the same about BBC, I haven't done business with them personally so it's only gossip, but I've heard a lot of not great things about him...mostly in the greed and snake oil department. Long story short, I'm not 100% certain BBC is necessary to get the performance out of ohlins, I think he marks shit up because you get an invoice with BBC on it to show off lol. All good suggestions. One point though! If you elect to put brighter head lights, align them slightly down and slightly right. Even trucks with lift kits should be aware that you blind oncoming traffic, yet, you see better. Adjust rude lighting. Not because of laws, because it’s courteous. Something as simple as using a wall to adjust. A night of running watching bright lights or misaimed ones, is unsat. !

I put stock Harley Davidson floorboards with forward foot controls. The toe shifter is longer. I have a H-D touring seat with a passenger back rest & luggage rack. I’m looking for better saddles bags, mine are stock synthetic velcro attachment and snap buttons. The Velcro comes unattached at speed so I have a workman’s belt tightening on each of them. I have Legend Shocks front and rear. Now the front forks are so much improved you can run over anything without feeling any loss of feeling. I recommend Legend front shocks. I think the shocks may lower your front end by an inch or two. But it’s a complete change for the better.

1, Decent engine mounts from Big Bear Performance to replace the stock factory rubbish. 2, Twin front brakes - Fatbob style is sufficient and cheaper than the expensive 'high-end' stuff. 3, Suspension improvements - re-valve the front forks and use thicker oil and stronger, simple-wound springs (not progressive) along with decent rear shocks with specs to match front-end improvements. 4,Tyres - Avons are my preferred option. 5, A quick-fit windscreen to help make long distance and high speed riding less tiring - I am 60 years old and like to do 2 or 3 hundred+ miles a day in summer. Oh, those urethane riser bushings along with a hot-rod motor so you can really make use of the five major ones, but I would be surprised if you ever get done improving the bike ! That is why I like Harleys as no other make has so much after-market stuff available, though I tend to use a lot of H-D (including some CVO screaming eagle stuff) parts modified to save money - the quality standard of a lot of aftermarket stuff is often suspect as is some H-D stuff so I tend to buy second hand stuff off eBay.....

Thanks for all the recommendations. I did all of these upgrades to my wide glide except the tach because I dont have one. Can you guys do a video setting up a tach on a bike that doesnt have one? I have a 2010 fxdwg. Your channel is awesome btw. Ive watched a bunch of videos while im working on my bike.

On a Dyna for me... #1 has to be a front fucking motor mount/ tru trac! Get rid of the wobble if you actually ride it. 2. LED lighting for sure (headlight and the signals) 3. Exhaust/ intake/ tune 4. Tires/ wheels (if you have OEM spokes, they’ll loosen) 5. Suspension. And I’d opt for crash bars, a small fairing as well as bars as next upgrades. And if you have a single disc front brake get a big brake kit.
@dynademos4 жыл бұрын

Wish I never got rid of my FXR4, for a Low Rider S. Out of 8 Harley's I've had, it's been the biggest pain in my ass, back and pocket book. Now after watching this, I need to spend another couple grand hoping I will like it more. Three different seats to get my ass happy, and 3rd set of pipe(s) on it, and still hitting pavement. Tore up a brand new Basani the first 2 miles. Scraped the front header and had the heat tape flapping. It's been to Harley several times for issues, now has a new ECM. Fuel injector recently stuck open, filled the motor with fuel. They changed the oil. Said it'd be ok. ???? I took it home, warmed it, and dropped it, and then again. The oil still smelled like fuel when they gave it back. It HAD a SE Race tuner, that they KEPT, for obvious reasons. Now I'm in the market for a tuner and a different pipe, again. I can't find my sweet spot with this thing. It hasn't been nothing short of a money pit. It's the last "new" HD I will ever have. My older bikes never give me problems, or had to change so much to like them. Ol yeah, great vid tho. Some good ideas on here from y'all and in the comments.

Shit I bought an 08, put the OEM exhaust back on it and have been mobbing the local roads at higher speeds. All in all I like it. It shakes like a go kart, but it holds its line in the turns really well. I am going to replace the rear shocks. Even with 5k miles they feel like garbage.

Great video and tips, did you have to change out or extend the stock cables when you installed the the lucky 13 bars?
@dynademos5 жыл бұрын
Belly we did have to change out the clutch cable (unless you have a street bob) and change brake lines. We had enough slack in the wiring so didn’t need extensions.

Why didn't Harley have to pay for the 88 cam chain tightener? If Ford, Chevy, or Toyota had an issue that could take out the engine. It would be on them.
