Man, I am about to buy one of those as I wish to improve my knives quality. Just found your channel a day ago and here you are already giving the info I need. Great channel, you are up there nowml in my YT go-to channel list, right next to Walter S.

I’ve got the same one but with the WiFi. I really like it since I can check where the oven is in the heat treat process with my phone and not have to be in the same room. Can even adjust on the fly if needed from your phone as you’re figuring it out. Great review!
@gentrycustomknives80082 жыл бұрын
Yes that actually is a pretty awesome feature! I wonder if I can add it to mine?
@brandonjones65622 жыл бұрын
I think you can as you should have the USB port on the bottom of the controller. It’s just a dongle that plugs into it.

Thanks for sharing this info with us! I made my own HT-oven about half a year ago (redbeardops' design) which works great for the money but an evenheat oven has been on my radar for a while and this info is of great help.
@gentrycustomknives80082 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting! What did it cost to build one?
@louizosknives30052 жыл бұрын
@@gentrycustomknives8008 Somewhere around €300 ($330) and a lot of time. For some reason firebricks are way cheaper where I live (Netherlands) compared to USA. I bought the steel at a metal scrapyard so that drove the cost down too. Works pretty good but with evenheat you have the confidence that their ovens are not going to fail on you anytime soon.

@@gentrycustomknives8008 Redbeard Ops said he spent $900 on his build. Just watched it yesterday. I'm saving up to an Evenheat.

great video matt i built my heat treat oven runs off of 240 but down the road im gonna upgrade to a evenheat my oven cost 600-800 bucks to make i think the biggest cost was the soft fire bricks look forward to your next video and buildoff 😃👍👍 Mark A

I really need to get one of these and get more serious about my knife making. I've only had 3 weekends off in the last 2 months. I went to the elite series weigh in last weekend and the bassmaster classic 2 weekends before that

Wow well that’s awesome! I’d rather be fishing then making knives right now lol

Nice timing just bought an oven (not an even heat) guillotine version for us for ht steel tooling for our watchmaker shop, and we only just went through the burn in that was a long 40 hours and not my most memorable all-night-er. Now we are already to go, like you we have the 220 but it is 208 as we have 3 phase power here and wifi smart controller no argon connect for ours here though, just thought enough to share with you. Your oven furnace is really nice and a joy to be here while you share it. Lance.

Thank you for watching! How do you like the wifi dongle?

@@gentrycustomknives8008 We have it have not used the oven past the dry out procedure, looking forward to the wireless and many other cool features so we will have to let you know as we watch each video you produce. Our oven is Keith, Thank you. Lance.

I bought one a couple years ago...wish I got the tap controller. That being said the Evenheat is a nice piece of gear! I did get the silent relay though...

Good call on the silent relay!!

I'd love to know what types of steels you commonly use for your blades. I think it would be an interesting video. What it takes for you to treat those steels and what the benefits are with that particular steel. Thanks. I always learn a lot from you. Lots of inspiration too.

Have you ever thought of heat treating store-bought razors. Because I'm curious if it would work or if the razors are too thin
@gentrycustomknives8008 Жыл бұрын
They would be too thin I think
