People always say this. I ride an 08 R1... I can go 80 and crank the throttle way on back and it doesn't lift no damn wheel LOL. I'm 6ft 180lbs... idk what the secret is there. Maybe I need to be 250lb and sit on the back seat. I even have one tooth smaller front sprocket.

@thematrix34312 жыл бұрын
@@locomojo0485 That's because the engines are entirely different and the power delivery is entirely different. I have an 07 R6, 05 R1 and 09 R1 so I've gotten really familiar with the different ways Yamahas deliver power: The 05 R1 is extremely similar to my 07 R6, in fact it, TO ME, feels like my R6 because the power band is similar. They are both screamers and want to be high in the rev range. The bike gets going and then you hit the powerband and it surges forward but it's a speed thing not power if that makes sense. The 05 R1 makes 78 ft/lbs of torque at 10,500 rpm so you have to get it really revving. The 09 R1, makes my 05 R1 feel like a 600cc tbh. It creates 85 ft/lbs at only 10k rpms so you can see the amount of torque it generates is significantly higher and it does it way way sooner. It's a different type of throttle control that you have to learn when moving from a pre 09 R1 to a post 09 R1 I would rip my 05 R1 around the neighborhood and it was fast but I had to learn a literal new skillset with my 09 R1 because when you start getting on it, the front wheel raises off the sheer torque. You WILL lift your front tire in A mode through at least 3rd gear on an 09 and considering. . . You can easily do 80mph in just first gear... yeah, if you're aggressive on the throttle the 09-14 front tire is coming up. If you've never ridden an 09+ you'll have to get used to the torque. It's very strange if coming from earlier R1s. Those bikes are fast but they're not powerful. The 09+ is literally.. just strong. It will flip you easily

I bought a new 2020 R6 yesterday(1/8/21). I had been shopping for a R1 and just could not find one at a reasonable price and decided to just stick with a 600. I haven't ridden a sportbike in nearly 10 years and I decided to keep the R6 in "B" mode for the first 100 miles..... HOLY SHIT..... When you hit 8k rpm, the bike feels like it is trying to escape from you. I am literally squeezing my legs together and clinching the grips because it feels like I am being peeled off the bike. Remember, this is "B" mode. I see the odometer hit 100 miles. It's time to step it up to Standard mode.... OMG.... The bike is starting to get pissed off. Standard mode makes "B" mode feel like you are riding a god damned Vespa. I squeeze even harder to hold on. Standard mode had just proved to me that I should probably keep it in "B" mode until I am really comfortable with the way the bike handles and build my confidence back up for sportbike riding. Finally, "A" MODE, if that bike could speak it would go something like this: "Listen hear, you little shit. I am an untamed beast and I don't think you have the balls to see what I am capable of doing. You better hold on MOTHERFU.KER, this is going to be the wildest ride of your life."..... When I started riding, the R1 became my dreamlike and I knew I would own one some day. That is no longer the case. I own my dream bike and it is a 2020 Yamaha YZF-R6 in "B" mode. And the greatest thing of all, Standard mode and "A" is like having 2 supercars parked in the garage that you only take out on special occasions.

Very streetable commuter bike. I used to ride it 50 miles a day to work and back for ~16 years. The bike feels the most comfortable and stable cruising at 125mph on the interstate. 160mph was the fastest I ever took it on the freeway, just to see what my limit of safety was. The bike is capable of 180 I think. Fun thing to try is seeing how fast you can go in first gear without wheeling over. I got to 90mph, the front tire was off the ground for most of that.

To ME 09-11 is my favorite iteration of the R1 because it's raw, powerful, everything you love about the Crossplane R1s but there's no help with TCS or super advanced electronics to save you. YOU have to tame it. It's on YOU to harness and I absolutely LOVE that. I've had an 07 R6 for 11 years. As well as an 05 R1. I realized that with my 05 R1 and R6 - They were fast and I felt "cool" riding them. But on the 09 R1 I get on/ off it and I feel "POWERFUL." It's a completely different sensation. They are universes apart in how they make you feel. The 05 R1.. yep... super fast.... super fun.... love it. The 07 R6 - That's my first vehicle. My family heirloom. 11 years together... It’s very easy for the bike to get away from you and get yourself into very bad situations like coming into a corner too fast. It also has a very unforgiving clutch and you need to be snappy on shifts with bikes like this or the rpm’s drop too much. Would make it very difficult to learn the basics of operating a motorcycle and would be overwhelming and dangerous for most. You really can’t comprehend how fast these bikes are until you ride one. I had an '04 R1 Raven back in the day. Obviously not as sophisticated as this generation, but it was still a bad ass bike. No trac-control, no throttle by wire or any of that stuff. Just a raw sport bike. My biggest issue with the older gen R1s (haven't rode on any from this era) is that I found it incredibly uncomfortable when riding long distances. Even in my early 20s, this bike made my back hurt so bad that I'd have to lay on my floor for a half hour after a long ride. I have long arms so I could cruise 1 handed fairly easily, and I almost had to when cruising. This is ultimately what led me to selling the bike. I rode on GSXRs,636 Ninjas, and Honda 1000 RRs. All of them were much more comfortable to cruise around on.

I’ve got the red and white 2009. It’s been my dream bike since it came out. Finally managed to get one 13 years on lol. 90mph on the highway and with a quick twist, the tire lifts. Such a ridiculous bike. No other 1000 can compare in my opinion.

I had a Valentino Rossi edition R1 and after a few rides, I had to get rid of it. The first reason was because I wasn’t afraid of it. Second reason was because I lack the self control. It is way too easy to exceed the speed limit and I had to say goodbye. These are definitely fun and agile. The ‘09 I had, I put the A&R baffle kit. Even Harley riders would break neck to see what sounded so bad ass! The ‘10 had the 2 brothers slip on pipes and sounded good as well.

I have the 2004 R1. Most people that know about the R1 say that the 2004-2006 or even the 2007-2008 are the nicest looking R1s ever made. It's a more aggressive looking bike than the 2009 partly due to the fact that the nose is completely different(more pointed) and has ram air intakes underneath the headlights. Also the host mentioned the PWR to WEIGHT factoid. It was the 2004 model that does have the 1:1 pwr/kgs ratio. Can't really go wrong either way all awesome bikes.

I had a hard time getting a great 0-60 on my FZ-09 since the front wheel wouldn't stay on the ground. When you get that much power on something so light, it's hard to make it "hook up" right.

It only has a little over 5K on it now. What a work of art and with the factory Ohlins and other LE upgrades it's a great bike. I must admit for the twisty roads I spend most of my time on I enjoy my RZ350's and RZ500 more. But these liter bike super sports can sure give a lot of thrills real quick. Real quick. The Cross plane Yamaha engine was developed as a marketing idea to give the public something that sounds completely different to a run of the mill inline 4 and it sold very well, but the reality of it is Cross plane crankshaft are not so good their heavy, struggle to sustain high rpm without reliability issues and in the Yamaha's many were way out of balanced from the factory. The ZX10s, GSXR,s are a better buy, there faster and more reliable.

If you're looking for a reliable all-rounder like the FZ1 that can do the occasional track day (see for yourself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKbTioqVerCYnJo ), maybe try a TDM 900. It's more comfortable than the FZ1, which is a big plus for longer rides, especially if you're gonna be riding with a passenger, and its fuel consumption is another advantage, if you're gonna be using it as an everyday bike. The downside, compared to the FZ1, is that it's significantly slower, and it's not designed to be ridden like you stole it, it doesn't feel that well planted when you go over 150 km...

Back in 09 I purchased the red on white r1 for 9800 out the door. The only issue where 2 things 1 the sun would melt the bottom plastic do to the headlights magnifying the light. 2 timing chain rattling at startup due to a bad design for the tensioner. Both issues fix with recall. 70k on the clock and the bike still runs strong.

Here it is , Memorial Day weekend, 2022. Idiots in Hyundai Elantras, Ford pickups, whatever, racing up to you ,and trying to fly by you. A few throttle blips, and they are in your rear view mirror, trying to catch up. When you let them pass you, they have to go 20 mph over for the next mile or 5. I usually see them blue lighted, and pulled over up ahead. These things are fun for messing with 4 wheelers.
