in Italy we have a law that prohibits any manufacturer from affixing the Made in Italy trademark if the product is not actually made in Italy. which is why many products are made in china, others made in Italy. we do not tell stories without foundation thanks.

I got my first pair of rayban clubmasters 5154 from a local eyeglasses shop a year ago. They were the "made in china" and I think because of that, the nose pads and temples arrived so uneven, it just had a bad fit on my head. I plan on getting the clubmasters sunglasses with prescription online, hopefully prescription ensures I get a "made in italy".

Club masters seem to be made at their factory in China. I have a pair of their standard 2021 club masters and they were made in China. I don't know if there are premium options that are made in Italy but I was not given that option.

Even the ones made in Italy are made in china and the brand asks the manufacturer to write “made in Italy” so that they can raise up prices even higher . A lot of documentaries about this already exist in KZbin

The biggest advice I can give to people is: before buying one, either make sure you're getting them from a certified store, or, if you don't have that info, learn how to spot fake Ray-Bans. They're everywhere, and every detail matters. When I say "learn", I mean it. You would need to know how much they weigh (for example, Justins weigh between 31 and 32 grams), how the screws look, how the package should be, how shinny the logos on the cases are, where the marks should be, how they should look and feel, being able to taste the UV protection, etc, etc. In other words, look for a certified store. Fake Ray-Bans can be both expensive and useless at the same time. Believe me when I say "they're everywhere", like on the Ray-Ban store in the freeshop from Cancún - México, or Walmart in America. 5/10 Ray-Ban unboxing videos I watch on KZbin are from people who got fake ones, and the worst part is people in the comments rarely realise they're actually fake. Of course, you should never be that guy telling people they got fake sunglasses. That's what I call "being a dick". Just use what you know to take care of your loved ones and to avoid getting fake Ray-Ban yourself. Not only they're a scam, but, they're dangerous to. If you're from my country (Argentina) an example of a certified store can be Central Store. They have high prices, but, they sell original Ray-Bans. Avoid stores like "GafasDirect". If 50% off looks to good to be true, it usually is. Good luck.

I get mine from the certified store. Its one of these boarder stores which sell liquer, perfumes, sunglasses, good brand candies. More luxury stuff. And i checked out on the description od the tissue bag that its Said its plastic lences. It get me worried for the moment. But then i checked out the numbers on the pack and are they same on the glasses, place od production, little ingrave logos on the one side od lence and the both side od nose holders. Luckily i was worried for nothing. Long story Short certified stores are the best way to buy these kind of stuff because you just know that its legit. Today they make doo good copies that its hard to tell the diference. But i will never do that. If its the shirt, jeans or something yes. But glasses is something that its protecting your eyes and on some cases helping you to see. So buying a fake ones is basicly gambling with your eyes and health. I once tried a fake ones and instantly get nosious, headache, my eyes hurt and i was dizzy. Basicly instantly i put them on. Soo, its better to give 150$ or more than Being cheap and regreat when its too late.

Maybe social rules in Argentina are very cautious about such things, but this is KZbin - it's international, and much of the comment section gets used for jokes, silly arguments or uncritical fandom, so why not add a bit of seriousness for a change.

Its better to buy some cheaper brand and knowing it does have UV protecrion and good lances then the fake ones. People are saying its a scam to buy real sunglasses for 200$ when you can buy fake for 50$ or something and you cant see the diference. Well not until they started to have Visions problems. Thats why real raybans are around 150-200$ and fake are much lower. The thing i want to say and many other people owning them is to not look the cheap way to buy sunglasses just to have People eyes on you, its to protect your eyes. Me, you and many other people understand that but some just dont. Probably one day everyone would. Hard likly but i hope for the other people health.

You are already probably right.. I have owned a brand new pair of 80s new old stock aviators and the quality is worse then a brand new Luxottica pair. But they were sat in the case for 30 years so they just aren’t the same 30 years later as they would be brand new in the 80s so it’s really hard to tell 🤔

One pair is still new in the box and worth $600 -$900 today. The other pair I worn at least four days a week every week since 1989. The other days I wear other B&L RayBan Aviators/Outdoorsmans or randolph Engineering Concordes that I bough new. Luxottica RayBans are shit.

I have noticed the quality difference between China made vs Italymade its clear as day to me. I have had numerous pairs, both made in Italy and china. the Chinese pairs are looser in the hinges , the plastic feels cheep on the Chinese as well where the italian ones feel much better. Also I know people who work for Luxottica in Italy and they say they don't get any parts from china at all the are 100% made in Italy when they say "made in Italy"

Ray Ban has gone to total crap in terms of quality IMO. I had an older pair of Wayfarers that have lasted me for quite a while. I still wear them occasionally. Last summer I made the mistake of purchasing a pair of polarized aviators online. They are total and complete garbage. The generic junk you see in Mall stores like lens crafters is better quality. The frames are flimsy. In a matter of six months of casual use last summer, the screws kept coming lose. One of the lenses outright just popped out--the right lens . And whenever I put even the slightest pressure on the temples the lens started to want to pop off. Sent back in under warranty. After going through the trouble and paying for shipping the glasses were returned 'repaired' only to have the same issues with screws coming lose etc...Was told I was not getting a new pair......never again....NEVER..Ray Ban has gone to garbage. I also don't buy the made in Italy label. Likely they are assembling them in Italy but the frames and lenses are probably made in China.

@@ShadeReview Well, the number I used was to an offshore Help Desk. Sounded like from India, based on the accents. Nothing against people from India but it was hard to communicate. I had to get a ticket for warranty work. Sent it in. Called once to see status but got no information other than, 'Ray Ban experts are working on your glasses.' When I got it back the lens didn't pop out but I still have issues with the screws backing out repeatedly. The aviators look nice. Other than that, they just suck in terms of craftsmanship and quality. I would advise people to have serious reservations if they are considering the aviators. They are just too flimsy. Cant speak for other products in the lineup.

Wish I could have watched this video earlier, but I could still draw similar comment as Shade Being a 10+ year RB fan, I haven’t been shopping new RB for quite some while, it’s because I already owned a few pairs of sunglasses that can handle most of the situations, clubmaster+wayfarer+aviator, they are all glass lenses and made in Italy What i consider having premium product will never comes with light weight like titanium and plastic lenses. They are for sure can make you comfort but not premium. These days i wish to find out a modern design from RB to add to my collection but I can hardly find one. They are either nylon+plastic lenses that made in Italy that looks cheap or acetate+crystal lenses that made in China which costs cheap. Just simply can no longer find a model with acetate+crystal+italy, or it has but they are the classics which I already owned. After this disappointing shopping around experience, I can conclude that if you go to a physical shop and see made in Italy or Japan on the temple, they will definitely print it. Other printings like T, K, C etc, I will simply assume they are from developing/semi-developed countries, and mostly from China. At the end of the day, I have just added a RB meta wayfarer and am planning to replace lenses for my defective classics, perhaps will buy a RB2132 to add in my collection. What a pity for this brand.

70 Dollars to make Back in the day and now 35 ?! Whahahaha.... I know these are just numbers for the sake of the argument, but one of my relatives worked in the industry up to the early- mid 90s and he said that while the lenses were the costliest a shipment of around one standard crate of highest quality lenses would cost them roundabout 3 Dollars a lense pair. When the shipment was large enough they we're able to get highest quality lense pairs for literal cents. Frame parts on the other hand, no matter the material were so cheap they practically regarded them as “free". The costly part was actually putting the frames together due to manhours spent. Every sunglass manufacturer including Maui Jim (even though I love them) makes insane profits on one sold batch alone. It's basically like printing money if your brand name is known. Since Ray Ban produces in China, were manhours are practically cents too i would argue that a solid 93% of the actual sales price in stores are pure profit. The rest goes to the shops and logistic departments. That's fucking insane. Everyone who buys a pair should realize it's a stupid Investment that only serves the 1%.

I have 2 pairs of ray bans made in Italy and 2 made in Brazil and the quality is very different. I haven’t payed attention when I bought the latter, from now on I’m only purchasing ray bans made in Italy.

I bought a pair of customized Rayban Wayfarer from the website and i asked to put my initials on the left temple. They read "Hand Made in Italy". However when i finally got them i noticed that they do not have a serial number on the right side they only read RB2140. Is that something normal with customized sunglasses or should i get worried?

i've never seen a pair of rayban that says made in china on the temple, i have a clubmaster with no origin marking (they're probably are made in china), it only says china on the box which i believe on some markets they don't have to clearly state the origin on the product unlike in the us.

I got a prescribed rb7074 directly from ray ban site it’s a nice rubbery frame made in China. It’s good quality idk. I guess if it was plastic it’d be inferior?

I bought a pair of polarized New Wayfarers, and they don't feel like a premium product nor am I blown away by their lenses...you're not getting a notably better product than the mid-grade knockoffs, IMO. Like...why are these lenses so bad? I'm a bit surprised that the Dr. Evil company that owns like 95% of the market is unable to engineer a lens better than this...

Even the 35.00 cost is inflated. Only a few glasses are still made in the US. The majority are made in China and not a single pair (polarized or not) costs more than 10.00 (U.S.) to make. Don't be fooled. You're paying for the marketing and the name.

you don't... the high profile models like the Wayfarers and Aviators are sure to say "made in Italy" on the temple, but for lesser known models there's no way to know until you have it in hand.

Ray ban? Try shady rays. I put my ray ban wayfarers down and picked up a 50% half off pair of shady rays wayfarers. Love them. Feel exactly the same. Look the same. Without the ray ban sticker. But it says shady Rays: so...new designer style. Oh yeah shady rays are assembled in America. Like ray ban orders their parts from Chinese designers and assemble and finalize it in their Luxotica line.
