As a Canadian born in Canada, I wanted to better understand the view from immigrants. Very informative. Very well communicated. Immigrants that come here with the right attitude are really helping to make this country a better place.

Nice video Seyi. The thing is, if you’re coming from Nigeria all these factors won’t deter you because your first priority is to escape from lack of electricity, armed robbers, kidnappers, Fulani herdsmen, SARS/SWAT, poor medical facilities, bad roads and the more than 1000 ways to die early in Naija. So being rich does not save you from any of the above maladies. So, except those who have not evaluated their reasons for relocating, staying alive and stability is a key driver for many. Keep up the good work. 👍

Very valid point. The way a guest on my channel put it - In Nigeria we are battling external demons, but in Canada those things are gone, we now have to battle internal demons. So safety and security is key. Wealth cannot help with that.

Japanese politeness is determined by status in a given situation, so this still applies. In my experience of living in Japan, with extended Japanese family whose worked for an extended period of time in a Japanese workplace, what you mean by cultured is not reflected in the culture in the way you might mean.

Another great video. All points are perfect! As long as you decided to move to Canada, you should be ready for what it takes to live there. I know a lot of people who found it difficult to leave their oil company jobs in Nigeria to move to Canada. They continued to shuttle and can't really decide on what to do. Note to such people. Decide on what you want. Money or stable lifestyle? Shuttling is a stress on growing family. Good job!

This is such a good video on some of the challenges that new immigrants to Canada might face and a very eye opening perspective for me to understand ways that new immigrants might be shocked by Canadian culture. Looking back now, I can see many instances in my life where I've seen new immigrants face challenges adapting to Canadian society, especially as it is a very unique and weird country to adapt to. PS your Canadian girl accent killed me, it was so spot on.

This video is pure gold. The funniest part is when Feyi did the cute Canadian accent of the neighbour who called the police on loud tenants. But having "A1 mental" is very important. If your support network isn't strong, when those short, dark winter days arrive, your mood may decline. Related to that, if you aren't comfortable with uncertainty, anxiety may arise as well. In a nutshell the message of being open to change and unlearning past beliefs is helpful. Culture shock is real.

Canada is for people who want to work hard to escape a poor living situation, it is not for people who have servants in Nigeria. My father came from Spain 70 years ago. He worked for peanuts when he got here but he moved up the ladder. Canada helped him and he helped build Canada. What are people from Nigeria going to do to help Canada?
@FeyiMac4 жыл бұрын
Poor people cannot afford the Canada immigration programs that are available (except the refugee route, and even that requires some money). It costs a lot of money in local currency to apply for the programs and the proof of funds required for the application in unattainable for them. People who have servants in Nigeria are not necessarily wealthy. Like I said, labour is very cheap. Minimum wage is less than $100 a month. According to Canada's Minister of Immigration, Marco Mendicino, skilled immigrants are needed for labour shortages and to boost the Canadian economy. The immigration programs available target highly skilled and highly educated immigrants and that is what Nigerians are bringing to the job market, along with Entrepreneurship. Many are leaving decent paying and sometimes, very good jobs to come start afresh in Canada for peanuts, while hustling to go up the ladder, just like your father did 70 years ago. It's the price we pay to live in a sane and safe country.
@nozecone3 жыл бұрын
Canada rolls out the red carpet for the wealthy - we love those who have looted their own countries to bring their ill-gotten gains here (thank you, Brian Mulroney) - that's what some of them are doing to "help Canada". Now, forget your hard-working father - what are you going to do to help Canada - besides go onto the internet and try to put-down immigrants?

Hi Feyi. Thanks for always giving us insights on migrating to Canada. I'm totally committed to moving to Canada. I completed my ECA in March, wifey put in for ECA too but due to the pandemic and ASUU strike we are still on it. I have also tried IELTS and I would have to rewrite it because I had a 6.5 in reading .I plan on doing that by December. I've been preparing alongside wifey whose IELTS is on the 6th of Nov. So you know how committed I am, I'm also writing BCS by Nov to boost my crs score. It will really go a long way if I get to be 1 of the 8 lucky winners of the section 2 give away. This will relief me of the financial stress of having to pay for IELTS again. P.S - I'm determined to Ace IELTS this time. Thanks and God bless you and your sponsors

How did you go about writing BCS. I thought about it a while but gave up since I wasn't sure where they operate in Nigeria

If you "move to Canada" expect (1) Very high costs, rent, food etc. Unless you're rich you won't be able to afford it and will live a very low standard. (20) You must work very hard just to get by, which means working at least 40 hours a week and as high as 60 hours a week with two jobs or more. (3) You will feel alienated as a foreigner, Canadians are very private and generally socialize, work and live with people of their own culture.

I call bs on most of these points. What part of Canada you in? As for cost of living...dont move to GTA/Toronto...big difference there

A lot of Canadians just don't socialize much, period. Sometimes immigrants feel shut out from all the fun and excitement that must be going on - takes them awhile to realize that there isn't any fun and excitement going on .....

@@nozecone where in canada are you using as reference?
@nozecone3 жыл бұрын
@@superdrew8564 I've lived over much of the country - so I'm using much of the country as my reference. Look, I'm exaggerating to make a point - but for many Canadians, social life doesn't extend much beyond family and church, and maybe one or two old friends - and a lot of people just 'stay in', as much as possible. Not your impression?

Hello Feyi, Thank you for this opportunity. I am 33 years and sadly I have lot points before I became aware of this point based Canada immigration program. I have a Master degree and done my ECA. Studying hard for the second Stage which is IELTS before the recent adjustment to bilingual points which I believe would have an effect on the draws from next week. I sincerely wish to take my IELTS test this year. Although I may still have to take TEF because of the recent development. Making Inquiry about French classes and TEF examination shows that it is pricey. I pray to win the IELTS sponsorship and take the exam this year after which my CRS score and draws would determine if I would commence TEF preparations. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I live and dream Canada now.. I have done my Wes evaluation, I have done my Ielts, I don't qualify for express entry. I have applied for jobs noting yet. I have also don SINP, I got ITA but couldn't get a sponsor from there. Now I want to go through the school processes and I need some very experienced hand to guide me. I need this, I need to move. I need to win. God help me.

Thanks for all the insights. My question is, for a new immigrant who has more than one toddler, when can once parent (mother) come to canada to help out taking care of the kids?

I am moving to Toronto on December 30th. I will be working around Dufferin Street in North York around 6000 Dufferin Street. Is it okay to get accommodation in Yonge Street by Spadina in North York? How is the commute. For now I don't have to go to the office every day.
