After 15 years of heavy use the heater coil of my Mele stove broke. I noted the coil's part number and went to a Miele service center to buy a replacement. The shop assistant stated that this part is no longer available as it got replaced by a more durable version. He went to the store and came back with the new coil. Asking how much it cost he replied: As it was our fault we will not charge for it. It is for free.

I wanted a Bosch dishwasher once my current (at the time) dishwasher finally died. Unfortunately, my old dishwasher died during the pandemic. Couldn't get the Bosch due to inventory issues. Ended up getting a Miele based on the suggestion by my local appliance store. Did some research, seemed awesome, did it. I really love it. My friends make fun of my expensive dishwasher that sends me notifications... but i really like the Autodos feature, and really like how quiet it is. Huge improvement over my last one. This caused me to then buy a Miele canister vacuum. It was so good, it sucked sections of old carpet right off the floor, and tore patches right up and into the bag! Ended up having to replace the carpet (which was LONG overdue). I know, gross. But that's how well it works! Hehe

You said everything as it is! Miele have really great appliances especially their washing machines and dryers (new ones not so much - to much electronics that goes bad) but they are build like tanks. The problem with Miele starts when warranty is over and something is broken. Then you will have to pay what Miele tells you or you can do it yourself for much, much cheaper. For instance, I used Miele a lot but this year problem was matching pair of washing machine and dryer that work every day for over 10 years (both of them) with no problems. Dryer developed thumping sound, the carbon brushes were out and Miele wanted 170 eur (185$) to fix it, did it for 15$ (buy brushes online and solder it yourself - it's really simple). Then my matching washing machine develop F53 error, called Miele they said circuit board is gone and the cost of new was 430 eur (465$) + arrival and work to replace circuit board. As machine was in mint condition on e-bay I found repair service of circuit board with every transistor changed for 90eur (97$). Machine works like new! They have great products but also crazy prices on spare parts and that is why people going crazy when something is broken out of warranty.
@organiccold6 ай бұрын
Miele technical service will not do board level repairs due to liability, they can't guarantee a component level repair as other issues may arise later causing a customer complaint and more time that the appliance is out of service. Miele will offer only a board replacement to make sure the issue is sorted and they don't come back again to sort the same issue twice.

I had a positive experience with Miele appliances in the past. My old Miele washing machine worked for almost two decades. So i decided to equip my new kitchen with Miele connected appliances. A dishwasher, an oven, a hob and a hood. It was a little tricky to connect it all to Miele@home, as you say they do things differently, but I think that's also because I didn't read the manual first. Once done, it just works. Really happy, you can see the build quality in all the little details. The price is the only negative thing that I can say about it at the moment. A mainboard is just a mainboard. When you are quoted $900 for a mainboard, it's $100 (and i'm very generous here) for the mainboard and $800 for the Miele tag. Also, if they would provide proper service information (schematics, they should be forced by law to do that) you wouldn't need to replace the mainboard in the first place, you could repair it at component level for half of the price of the new mainboard. When a company withholds service information they are basically monopolizing the repair of their devices (i'm looking at you, Apple). You don't own that device, you're just a hostage of the manufacturer.

I'm curious to learn about the differences between Miele & Bosch dishwashers. I live in a humid & tropical climate where mold growth in dishwashers is a serious problem to contend with. Someone actually recommended that the best course of action is to simply learn to live without a dishwasher and to learn to find joy in the art of washing dishes. There is a certain wisdom in this and perhaps if our next dishwasher fails we will go in that direction. I would like to try one last time to own a dishwasher thanks to the harmony it brings our family when it's working well. Before decided between a Bosch & Miele I'd like to understand from an expert which one is better from a cleaning and drying perspective. Which one dries better? Which one reaches a higher temperature? I'm especially interested in the auto door open feature which would help to keep airflow going to the dishwasher, so that mold doesn't have a chance to grow.

In Australia, Miele offers has a two year warranty, and offers an extra charge for 5 year and a greater charge for 10 years, those warranties including call out, repairs and parts, excluding user abuse etc. The problem with that warranty is its the same for each style of appliance: for a washing machines for instance, one washing machine here may cost as $800, and a very high end one $2,400, and that extended warranty cost is the same. For the cheapest clothes washer 5 years costs an extra 17%; but for the high end that warranty would be an extra 5%. For 10 years, the warranty costs 2.5 times as much, so for the cheap washer, the 10 year warranty costs 43%, but for the costly machine 15% extra. Hence I reckon cheap units will get less factory extended warranties. I reckon people here who buy the less featured and smaller capacity washers, will not buy the 10 year warranties. But being able to offer a long warranty, does support the claims that their products are made to last. And there is evidence of that, if one examines things like enamel baked onto to exterior surfaces rather than painting the exterior surface, and there is much of that over engineering going on. But is a goal of 20 years life the same as over engineering? I think it is. Therefor they are not over engineered - they are just made to last. At least, we presume they still are. Hence I guess the evidence of 10 year full warranties by the company itself. These warranties do not appear to be mere insurance policies. The thing I like about Miele is that it is still family owned. While that might mean tools are more troublesome for independent repairers, that will only change if the Miele family sells to another company. GE Appliances were bought by Chinese Government's Haier group; if Miele was bought out, then in time, they'd have universal tools. And parts shared around the various divisions and brands of a huge conglomerate. And lower prices too. Sometimes its worth paying more for something you know where most of it is made, and you can get some service and even buy a long warranty.
