I was trained in a very fast paced place doing about 28 dogs a day. It was loud and louder, good people but really driven and I got to see many different situations. Demanding customers, accidents, tired groomers, old dogs, Iv seen it all after 6 months lol. Iv opened my own place and I love it! I love choosing my own shampoos ( igroom) I can take a break, listen to music, talk to the dog, schedule a good lunch break ( at my last place I ate in my car because there wasn’t a place for us). I love grooming even more that I’m my own boss lol. I have six children and half of them were very challenging. Last week I did a very large challenging dog and I looked at him and said “ buddy, you are not winning this, I need to trim you’re face, you are walking out of here with a nice looking face. I said “ I have teenagers, you have nothing on me” lol. So he let me finish his face and his owner was happy! I think my experience as a mother, and my crazy dog grooming training prepared me well. When I’m grooming I have almost no anxiety. I’m not saying grooming is super easy but it really is for some people:). Also I enjoy being alone, I actually talk to the dog a lot it’s kind of funny. I’ll explain to them what I’m doing and carry on conversations 😂. It seems to work and they leave happy and cute! Thanks for your videos!

I found a dog groomer that wants to train me, and this was very helpful! I'm excited to start learning, she is very busy woman who owns her own salon, and it's just her and her husband so she needs help and I'm excited to learn and help! I'm 20 with not really a lot of plans career wise and I did take veterinary studies for a while and it just didn't work out. I'm excited to still work with animals in a professional setting.

I'm 25 next month and I having been working an office job for the last 4 years, it's mentally draining for me and my mental health is lower than ever. The one thing that makes me happiest is animals and dogs in particular! I am starting an evening college course in September for dog grooming and will be looking into starting a dog behavioural course too whilst juggling full time work. I'm hoping I can eventually go part time in my job and then work part time in a salon once I have my qualification in dog grooming. I just wanted to say thank you for these videos you upload, they have been super helpful and realistic!

This is a great and realistic plan ! Grooming can be mega tough too so being able to do it part time I would 100% say it the best option . That’s what I eventually want to do . It will be SO different from an office job . You’ll find hour days will go so fast and the process of learning is so exciting and creative ! I’m so pleased for you x

This was so helpful thank you! I’m a people pleaser too and I find it really hard to turn dogs down, I always felt so picky with certain breeds but I feel better after hearing you say about what breeds you prefer! Love your videos x

PSA to new groomers: Be careful where you put your face. Thought a dog I was grooming was just shy/scared and he bit my lip. Wearing a mask might’ve helped me 😅

As a doggroomer myself, really understand every single point you said. I to am grooming in a place with no natural light and it drains me in the wintermonths. Currently building my own small salon but i also added my own store with natural dogfood with it so i can groom a little less.. I currently groom 2 days a week and take on 4 (sometimes 5 dogs depending on their seize and amount of work). I work another job on the side but want to quite aftee a while cause it's even harder fysically then grooming 😂 hoping that when i open my store it becomes a succes 🙈
